Ive noticed the past couple of weeks that my computer, when dealing with pics, it tends to "freeze" or lag for about 15 to 20 secs.

As an example, I had a pic I saved and it came out as a bmp. So I went to open it in paint and swap it over to jpg. When I highlighted the pic, it did its thing...it does it on my laptop and even on my home puter to the point where its a hassle to scan anything and try uploading anymore.

Anyone else having this issue? Ive run the gambit of spyware and virus stuff and nothing is showing up.

Have you tried defragging your hard drive? I find that usually speeds things up, especially with graphics software. You might also want to run chkdsk to see if there's anything wrong with your hard drive, any possible fragmentation notwithstanding.

I'm primarily a Mac user these days, so maybe someone else has a better solution, but running disk checking/repair tools is always the first thing I do in Windows whenever I notice such slowdown.

Naw, what you're looking at there is the clipboard "accepting" the ridiculously large file size into memory for use later. When memory is full, and you try to add to it, the computer stops everything, dumps what it can, and tries to make room for the image data.

Solution? You have too much crap running in your task bar. msconfig is your friend. That will free up ram, speed up the computer, and allow the clipboard to run free of reformatting duties it was never meant to do. Also, if you're running Windows 7 with the bare minimum of RAM, anything related to the clipboard turns into a chore.

Ahh, I forgot about the clipboard, but I hardly ever use Paint to begin with (and Photoshop's fairly reasonable about RAM consumption). Yeah, that's probably what's doing it.

Not very big size wise...not even 100k...small simple stuff and even when Im not doing anything else it happens...I recently did the defrag thing so its not in need of that again but Ill check...you never know.
