I did own a few SNES games like Kirby Dreamland and Superstar, Mega Man soccer, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, Secret of Mana, Inidou, Breath of Fire, Shadowrun and more but never got to play any of them. Now i have found a SNES and i am seriously thinking of getting it but what should i get to play? What are the good games and what should i stay away from?

Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid... to name a few.

Some of those will be insanely expensive to buy though, so it might be better to wait for them on the VC if you happen to have a Wii.

This list could get rediculous in a hurry. Everything already mentioned are excellent choices. Also add Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, Demon's Crest, Super Castlevania IV, Donkey Kong Country, and Secret of Evermore. There are easily 20 more games that I could mention but you have already got 300+ hours worth of gameplay just from what's listed above.

Yeah i had all the Mario's, DK 2 and 3 and Secret of Evermore. I pretty much know that the RPG's are worth a purchase but im looking for non RPG games. Thats what i should have said and no i don't have a Wii and really don't plan on getting one anytime soon.

Here's my top 10:

1 - Super Metroid
2 - Super Mario World
3 - Chrono Trigger
4 - The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past
5 - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
6 - Super Mario RPG
7 - Space Megaforce
8 - Final Fantasy III
9 - SimCity
10 - Donkey Kong Country 3

Some other good stuff:

Rock N' Roll Racing
R-Type III
Super Pinball: Behind The Mask
TMNT IV: Turtles In Time
U.N. Squadron
ActRaiser
Wario's Woods
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Demon's Quest
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby Super Star
Tetris Attack
Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Underrated games:

Dino City
Spanky's Quest
On The Ball
Claymates
Firepower 2000
Spectre
Scooby-Doo Mystery
Biker Mice From Mars
Lamborghini American Challenge
Top Gear 3000

Stay away from Space Ace, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Pit Fighter, Rapjam: Volume One, Bebe's Kids, Alien vs. Predator, Radical Psycho Machine (RPM) Racing, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Eye Of The Beholder, and Kawasaki Caribbean Challenge.

Speaking of corny games, did anybody ever have/play the basketball game Jammit!? It was so dumb but I can remember playing my brother all the time and talking trash just like the characters in the game (there were only 3 of them). It was hilarious because you would play one on one on a game to 21, and there would be like a $300 bet on the game. And you would run in to dunk, push the shoot button, it would go to a different screen where you are around the goal, and you would have to press shoot button again to dunk it. There was some corny trashtalking going on, and pretty much the line I remember is "I'm gonna charge you like a gold card, fool."(or something to that effect.)

But to get back on topic, my favorite SNES non-rpg games would include Donkey Kong Country (all of them), Tetris Attack, Killer Instinct, Maximum Carnage, Street Fighter II Turbo, Sim City, Super Punch-Out, Super Metroid and Mickey Mania. Surely there were others but I have drawn a blank...

Thanks guys, i am suprised no one mention Aero Fighters. That is the only SNES game i held on too since i just traded Kirby Dreamland 3. If i would have known that Spiderman:Maximum Carnage was good, i would have grabbed a sealed copy a year ago from EB.

Recently I've been playing Front Mission: Gunhazard, man that game's fantastic!! It's exactly like Cybernator, but longer and with more customization.

Good call. If you didn't know, Aero Fighters is one of the rarest SNES games - An R8 on Digital Press, in fact. I've wanted it for a long time, but have never seen a copy in the wild. :whistle2:(
I didn't know that FrontMission was ever released in North America. I thought you had to wander into the murky underworld of pop-ups, hentai, and emulation to get that game. It most certainly is worth it, though.
I won't say where or how I got it, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Secret of Mana I know it's an "RPG" but it's really an action game. Lot of hacking and slashing plus it has multiplayer. That game was way ahead of its time.
