I just purchased a PSP and am not sure if this was a good choice. I have read so many anti-Sony posts as of late that I am now unsure of the PSP. Everything from the high price points of the PS3 and PSP and the sales of the PSP, to its supposed poor games, to Sony's lies and deceit from Phil Harrison and others just makes me wonder who the heck I am supporting. Do I really want to support a company who has created a fake movie critic, pushed DRM to the extremes, etc.? What have they done RIGHT??? Should I turn right around and sell the PSP? Or is it worth it to keep it?? Someone please help me out.....

Wow, I'm in the total opposite boat as you. I play my PSP all the time, in fact I haven't touched my PS2, XBox, GameCube, or PC in at least a month and a half. So much so that I'm considering selling my consoles to get a 360 and/or save for the Wii.

Who knows, in two months I may be hating my PSP .... wait a minute, scratch that. In two months Vice City Stories comes out ... still love my PSP.

Corruption in a major company ?!?!1oneeleventy?!

I guess Microsoft really is the perfect regime. Maybe you should sell your PSP and wait for your Lord Gates to announce the Xbox Portable.

It's a motherfucking game system that plays motherfucking games...

Why in the hell would corporate politics affect your buying decision?

Are you so much of a little bitch that you can't decide if you like a system without a critic telling you what to think?

:-({|=

if you think Sony's bad, you should look into.....every other corporation

"Why in the hell would corporate politics affect your buying decision?"

I hesitate supporting a company who will use my money to consistently lie so that my money becomes a means to support this kind of action. Sometimes, though, it obviously can't be helped. For example, I don't really like Microsoft's business practices, but since I "need" Windows, according to the college I'm going to (don't ask why), I can't exactly stop using Windows. I happen to care about ethics in business, but that seemingly doesn't exist anymore. My hope is that Sony and other big businesses could just tell the truth about their products and business practices. That, at this point, is too hard to do, I guess.

Its when there are an overwhelming majority of people repeatedly slamming the PSP and Sony itself that it really starts to affect my opinion of it, especially when the attacks against it are not all far fetched. For instance, will the lack of sales thus far for the PSP prevent it from getting as great of games? I like to think of the PSP in this regard: If a game gets panned by numerous gaming critics, usually (not all of the time: go Unlimited SaGa!) it means that the game is not so great. With a majority opposing the PSP (read: sales charts and many gaming forums), will it and its games reveal to be appealing to me like U Saga did despite its low reviews? I hope that is the case. I hope I can really like all the PSP has to offer.

you should've considered all that before the purchase. it's too late! They've got your money! Sony's going to murder your family and eat all the food in your fridge!

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I mean can you imagine if a video game company owned an entire magazine? Err... hmmm

Better a video game company then a video game store (thank you Game Informer!).

You shouldn't worry, CAG and the internet in general is too biased against Sony, the "love" for Wii is just some sort of mental illness

But you should be happy about your PSP, find joy in what it does: buy a large memory stick and enjoy watching anime or porn or tv shows and listening to all your mp3's [or better yet, embrace ATRAC3 and enjoy what us minidisc users have been enjoying for years]

Hack it and use it to browse the internet

Emulate SNES, Genesis, and Gameboy games to your hearts content

Look forward to when you'll be able to play PSOne games

And enjoy the wealth of good games available already, and soon to come. Capcom has some great collections on it, and there's a lot of good RPG's coming out

UMD's are dropping in cost, you can get some good movies for cheap right now

And be happy your console has a better screen than the DS, can render 3D without look like absolute crap, and has more of a future than the DS will ever have

Sure, you don't have Brain Age and won't have Pokemon

But come on, Tekken, Street Fighter, DJ MAX PRO!!

Yes, buy DJ MAX PRO! You'll be happy...there's nothing on DS even near the wonder that is DJ MAX PRO...

and the greatests hits games are ALL good for the price...you can find them used for less than $15 and there's no reason not to own them

Plus your PSP looks sexy as hell, and firmware upgrading is FUN = )

QFT

I cant really say anything that hasnt already been said. but i bought my psp less than a few months ago and im still enjoying. one thing is that even if another game never comes out theres still so much that you can do with it that justifies buying one.

Yeah dude, you fucked up big. You should have bit the bullet and paid the extra money to get the the white JP version instead. You could be watching JPUMD right now on that mother.
and firmware upgrading is FUN = )
not really, but yea i use my psp almost everyday:bouncy:
QFT
I agree also. :)

Well, I'll just say that I purchased my PSP 125 days ago, and I couldn't be happier. Although I see threads with people selling their PSP, hating on it, etc., but every time I see them, I look at the 27 games I own, and notice that I really love most all of them, and I want around 15-20 games more for it. So, if you're enjoying your PSP, don't worry about what others say. I'm currently playing mine more than any other console I have, including PS2 (I have 188 PS2 games and it was my favorite current generation console by far). The only regret I have about getting a PSP is that I've bought less games and played less of every console I own. Also, it's been forcing me to wait longer for an Xbox 360, since there are too many games I want for it, holding me from getting another console.

If you're going to take the hate too seriously and let it affect you, you won't enjoy it. But if you don't and you're enjoying it, then you have nothing to worry about.:)

I was a DS fangirl til about two weeks ago. i got both systems on their launch day but never bought another game for the PSP outside of the two that I got with it on launch - Ridge Racer and Lumines. My DS i kept supporting though and lovin til a friend came over with some of their games and lent me a few. did it ever change my opinion. Currently Im juggling The Sims 2, the last Need For Speed game, GTA: LCS, and Valkyrie Profile. :) Both are good systems that have their high points.

shhh...don't QFT so loudly...fanboys patrol these waters man.

I had regrets about buying the PSP around launch, but now I'm happy I have one. Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2, was worth it.

Now I just need to obtain the Mega Man games, and I'll be good for a while.

TLDR, but it looks like a bunch of stupid shit that should be posted on your livejournal. if you're really going to cry about a company's ethics, though, then do yourself a favor and never buy, or use, another thing ever again.
Sony's going to murder your family
i support this plan of action.

Conservatives and Sony fanboys. Overstating bias every chance they get.

OP, you're an idiot if you buy the system and don't even attempt to give it a fair shot. That means playing some of the games for it (although I know some people that use it as a ROM dump). There's a bunch of good games for the system and a few truly outstanding games.

The secret to owning any gaming system is that you'll only hear about the great games until you look for yourself. The PSP has quite a few good to great games for it beyond the standard Daxter/Mega Man/Tekken/Luminese reccomendations including (but not limited to) Virtua Tennis, Gripshift, X-Men Legends 2, Twisted Metal, Lemmings, the Gradius Collection, and Me and My Katamari. I'm probably considered a Nintendo fanboy, but that sure as hell doesn't stop me from enjoying my PSP.
