I was just wondering if anyone has played both of these for the PS3 and could give their opinion on which is the better baseball game. I have MLB 2K7 and while I enjoy it, it does have several flaws. I am trying to decide if I should sell it to get The Show. I am going to rent it but that might take a bit as GameFly is slow as hell and Blockbuster takes a little while to get new games in. Thanks for the opinions.

The Show is an absolute, no-brainer purchase if you own a PS3 and love baseball games.

I used to own 2k7 for the 360 and after a week of frustrating slider tweaking, I traded it in. I've been playing The Show since sunday and it plays amazing out of the box (I eventually made a couple of tweaks and am loving the results).

Don't even waste your money renting and go ahead and get rid of 2k7 to get The Show...you will not regret it.

Go with The Show. 2K7 is all flash with no substance (although I wish it wasn't, as I'm a fan of baseball games and I want all of them to be good). MVP NCAA 07 is a great game, too. Analog hitting feels like the real thing in MVP 07.

2K7 graphics may be a little better but in my opinion the show plays a much, much better game of baseball. Get the show.

Decided to get MLB 07 The Show due to the reviews I read. I have to say that I am extremely happy with this game. It is definitely an improvement over MLB 2k7. I like 2k7 but the way the players move in The Show is so much more realistic and less choppy. I also love the batting and pitching interface. If you have to pick one I would say go with The Show.

I'll go w/ the show as long as you don't have to move the sixaxis to swing the bat... I couldn't play 2k7 for crap.

Yeah in the show you can use the six axis for fielding but it can also be turned off. It can also be turned off in 2k7 but I agree that was a horrible idea for the hitting. I sucked balls at it.

I'm hoping the Gamerush near me gets MLB 07 so I can trade in 2K7 towards it. The only reasons I bought 2K7 were because I didn't want to wait 2 more months for an MLB game and I got it at a really good price (about $30).

2K7 has awesome graphics but the framerate is crappy. The players look realistic but their movement is so choppy. Batting for me has been totally hit-or-miss. Either I make perfect contact and crack a bunch of homers or I don't hit worth a crap. Also I am sick of the CPU ALWAYS robbing you on the close plays. I had one game where the computer climbed the wall six times to rob me of homeruns. The computer also makes the diving/sliding catches about 95% of the time.

I know, those wall snags suck, I thought I was playing "Matrix" baseball. Either that or John Woo was the manager and he was teaching the art of wall walking to his players.

Although I have yet to play The Show, I was sorely disappointed in 2k7. I dl'd the demo on the 360, and I really didn't take to it. I then eventually bought it since I couldn't wait for The Show...still don't like 2k7. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm confident from what I have read about The Show and the popularity of the game, that it is the superior of the two games.

The Show is a very deep game, especially for franchise fanatics. There is so much to do, you can even purchase how you want your team to travel (bus, fly coach, first class, etc.) The stadiums are nice just the player models are really the only thing that look kind of bad. Unlike MLB 2K7 the AI is great no constant hr robbing, no stupid lineup changes like beltran leading off, and hr's are hit at a good rate so no 5 hr games on a consistant basis if you have Pujols or A-Rod. Those are just a few of many reasons why I feel The Show is superior.

Just wanted to put my two cents in on this issue--I just bought MLB 07 and can't put it down. What a fantastic baseball game.

I really look forward to next year when they improve the graphics, but the gameplay is superior to any other baseball game I've played. Just phenomenal.

I totally agree. It seems like the 2K people spent all of their programming time on the graphics then rushed the final product out to the public just to beat Sony's game to the market. Sony on the other hand realized they didn't have enough time this season to get everything in they wanted. They focused on content and gameplay figuring they can upgrade the graphics for next year. It's not like the graphics are horrible by any means. They're just not as good as you'd expect for the most powerful console on the market.

Hmm had a wierd glitch happen last night while playing The Show... I was playing the "Road to the Show" mode and I hit a slow grounder up the 3rd base line. The 3rd baseman just stood there and let the ball roll up the line past the bag. The left fielder started to come in to get the ball but then stopped. The catcher had to come out all the way from home to pick up the ball and throw it to 3rd (I kept running the whole time and made it in safely with a triple).

Not a big deal and I still love the game but it was just weird.

I finally got a chance to rent the game...the game is GREAT. I may have to finally trade in my 2K7 for 360 for this. The only downfall is my PS3 is on a 26" LCD, while my 360 is on my 55" RPTV.

Not sure how I felt about Road to the Show mode though....It was fun, but I guess I like to play the whole game. (Plus, I sucked at hitting with my created player)

Were you playing a Minor league game? I usually find the fielders in the minors to be idiots, you can't trust them on defense.

I just hope MLB 08 has a lot better graphics. Its kinda disappointing to be playing a PS3 games that looks sooo last-gen =\

I think the graphics are ok for the game....it does seem nice and shiny. Still seems to be missing the dirt effects and a few other things.

Also, can you take out a fielder when breaking up a double play? Is their collision detection for that? I have yet to see it happen...but only played a few games on my rental copy.

Just got this and F1 championship and I am loving both. I will officially be selling my copy of MLB 2k7 for 360 tomorrow.
I just hope MLB 08 has a lot better graphics. Its kinda disappointing to be playing a PS3 games that looks sooo last-gen =\
It will. The developers had two choices, give the game impressive graphics like NBA07 and lack gameplay modes, or not strip the game down and just slightly up the graphics from PS2. That seems to be the case with almost all next generation sports games during a consoles first year.

Yes, you can also take out the catcher on a close play at home plate and then it is up in the air if he drops the ball are not. I have played about 200 games and only seen it once though...

Yep I was playing a minor league game when this happened. I haven't gotten consistent enough with my hitting in order to stay up in the majors for very long.

Is anyone else having major freezing problems with this game (MLB 07' The Show)? I've been playing "Road to the Show" mode for a few weeks. Now it seems like whenever I play the game will randomly freeze. Sometimes it unfreezes within seconds and other times I've had it kick me back to the PS3 menu.
