I like how some people are respectful about the Cards winning it all, congrats (though I could've cared less either outcome of this series) and anomynous is being a total douche bag about it. The underdog win quite a bit in sports these days.

Good win for the Cards. Just wish our boys would have brought a better display to the world series. All those errors reminded me of the Three Stooges.
 
hats off to the cards. i guess we couldnt stop a team that was destined to win it all. Here is looking to off-season and next year gents.

EDIT:im talking about the mets and not the tigers. and yeah im waiting for larussa's book to come out too :lol:
 
congrats cards for the world series, and a great year for a young tiger team. Are we keeping this thread open to talk about the hot stove or are we going to open another thread? There has already been a signing, and some rumors about other players.
 
Congrats to the Cards, they looked like hell to end the season, but go hot at the right time.
Tigers, helluve season, who would have thought you would even be in the World Series this year.
Now it's time to open the pocket books, spend way to much on free agents and get ready for another season of Dodger Baseball.
 
Congrats to the Cards, they played great ball. I guess the week's rest took away the momentum from the Tigers.

Till next year. I'm just hoping the Mets get some SP's during the offseason.
 
What a sorry excuse for a baseball team. The Tigers should have won this series in 4 blowouts, but decided not too. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

Did you not watch the Tigers for the second half of the season? Congrats to the Cards, they were unlikely winners of the World Series, but beating the Tigers is not that shocking.

Agreed. I didn't think they'd blow through New York and Oakland like that. Imagine if Casey didn't hurt himself and the pitchers actually fielded their position.

LaRussa won a World Series with in all honesy the worst team he's put out there, at least in St. Louis. I used to be a Pujols fan, but after reading how he's turning into Barry-lite, I'll pass.

I like how all the Tigers fans are saying the Cardinals suck, yet they won the World Series? It's amazing how the only reason we won is because "the Tigers played bad". That's not an excuse, we won, Tigers lost, get over it. We wouldn't have won if we sucked. We wouldn't have even been in the World Series if we sucked. So we don't suck, if we did we wouldn't have beaten the "All-Mighty Tigers".

Basically in the second story the scout talks about how he didn't think Pujols would make the bigs (obviously what everyone was thinking because he dropped so far in the draft) and Pujols wants him to eat shit and die. Now he stocks at a Wal-mart so he can get benefits. Shameful.

I did. But I would say playing mediocre over a stretch of 50 games is much more indicative of a team's mettle than playing 7 good games in a row. They are a good team and should've beaten the Cardinals, but they weren't some juggernaut that should've rolled them.

You say you're not a Tigers fan, doesn't matter to me, I don't care what team's fan you are, since you seem to be so Anti-Cards...
 
Well record wise, the Cardinals are the worst team ever to win the World Series. That may be why people are calling it them LaRussa's worst team.

I'll start up an offseason/hot stove here in a few minutes.

under the new collective bargaining agreement, the new luxury tax threshold is $149 million. So expect a lot of teams to increase payroll up to the new threshold(red sox, angels, dodgers mets). Expect carlos lee, soriano and zito to get contracts of 18 to 20 million dollars per year and even lesser FA like ted lilly to get 3 years $30($10million per year) which is pretty unheard of. this is what they said after game4 on espn radio anyways.
