May 8, 2010: The day I became a fan of Josh Koscheck. He is my new hero.

What Paul Daley did was absolutely pathetic. I'm glad Koscheck won. Daley would have gotten slaughtered.
Yes, because faking eye pokes and knees to the face is MUCH classier. If anything, I'd say they deserve each other.
what a shitty fight koscheck put on
imagine this with gsp 25 mins of them both on the ground not doing anything
Except that GSP actually finishes fights...and he'll finish Josh Koscheck.

Damn! Shogun is a beast! Good to see him get the win he should have had 7 months ago. I wonder if this means a permanent move to Light Heavyweight for Anderson Silva. Maybe he'll actually have motivation now.

Classy move on Rua to stop punching after he saw Machida was lights out. Considering the outcome of their first fight, I would have expected him ti keep going.

Anderson doesn't deserve an immediate title shot. That's a fucking joke. Regardless of whether he's skilled enough for one, his recent behavior in his fights makes him unworthy. He needs to show Dana and the world he's serious first.

LOOK AT YO FACE!

seriously though Shogun deserved that fight and I'm glad he knocked Machita out because he got screwed in their first fight.

All were classless moves. But, Daley should have acted like the better man. Few people will remember what Koscheck did earlier in the fight. More people will remember that Daley gave Koscheck a cheap-shot after losing the fight. ;)

I think Koscheck knew that and that's why he provoked Daley. :whistle2:k

That's the Shogun I know. He could have done that in the first fight if he gave, I suppose, 'less respect' to Lyoto's abilities.
Dude, Dana just CUT Daley from the UFC for that illegal sucker punch  per the Post Fight News Conference.
He was PISSED.
thats some shit right there.
thats some shit right there.
No doubt. It almost seemed that Dana was gonna put a hit out on him or something lol .

On another note: Dana just said that it was KIMBO'S last fight in the UFC.

Whoaaaa...Daley cut? Kimbo's LAST fight already? Sounds like Dana was pissed off before this night even started. I think suspending Daley and/or fining him is definitely justified, but unless Dana is super close to a network deal and he's worried about any "Diaz-esque" antics ruining it, that seems a bit too hasty.

And the same with Kimbo. Yeah, obviously he's not going to do anything in the Heavyweight division, but Dana just signed James Toney. There has to be room for Kimbo...especially to fight those kinds of guys. It's not like Kimbo was disrespectful or anything. He's just too old to learn new tricks.

Personally, I'm glad Dana cut Daley. That shit doesn't belong anywhere in the sport, period. He got exposed as a one-dimensional striker and he should have handled his loss like a man.

Dana has always hated Kimbo so him cutting kimbo after this wouldn't be surprising. But Daley just found out what happens when keeping it real goes wrong

First, so glad that Shogun won. I thought the fight would end in a KO but I thought it was slightly more likely to be Machida on top. I'm wondering if Machida has much of a chin now, he's never really gotten hit in the face until this fight. Seemed like a weird gameplan for him as well.

I know Dana said he wants Anderson to fight Sonnen, then Belfort, but I'd be surprised if the Belfort fight happens. Shogun looks like such a great matchup for Anderson.

I also suspect that it may be Kimbo's choice to not fight anymore (for now). His knees are completely fucked, and if he can't deal with leg kicks then he stands no chance at surviving much longer. I'd be shocked if Dana chooses to not have Kimbo fight anymore, he's too big a name and I'm sure he could be a good test for some more novice fighters breaking in.

It's a good move by Dana to let Kimbo go - good for the UFC and for Kimbo. Slice has a huge achilles heel - he can't take the leg kicks, not even a little. At his age he probably has a touch of arthritis, and it was more than obvious that Mitrione's kicks were doing serious damage to Slice. Anyone that the UFC would have possibly put up against Kimbo at this point would have exposed this in the same fashion.

The bottom line is that there isn't anyone else out there for Kimbo to fight competitively. Not at heavyweight or 205. And asking him to drop to 205 is ridiculous anyway because he already has a ridiculously low body fat percentage, especially for his age. Cutting would mess him up bad.

Dana is actually helping Kimbo by cutting him now as opposed to letting him fight and having his name get dragged through the dirt with anymore losses. Kimbo's name still has drawing power at this point and he can carry it over to commercials, direct to DVD films, maybe even a pro wrestling career in Japan. I'll miss Kimbo because he's one of a diminishing number of fighters who came from the gutter and truly respected and learned from the sport of MMA, while still maintaining a high level of dignity for himself and never making excuses for the losses he did suffer.

Man Shogun was in BEAST mode last night. THAT is the Shogun I thought we would get in the UFC from day one when he signed. I'm really glad he won, I've always liked him from his early days in Pride and I have no reason to stop now.

I am really glad Dana cut Daley, that garbage has no place in the sport. Dana needed to set an example, especially after the really bad press MMA has been getting lately (thanks StrikeForce).

And I'm not really sad to see Kimbo go either. I like him as a person but he is just too damn old and beat up at this point in his life to do anything worthwhile in the sport. I mean c'mon...... Matt Mitrione???? Really???

I agree with mostly everything that's been said about Kimbo. But I still say, if Kimbo's cut, who is James Toney here to fight? I seriously doubt Toney would be chopping Kimbo's legs out from under him. Does Mitrione get Toney next? I don't see many other possible opponents for him.

Daley pulled a dumb move and it was an easy decision not to have him in the UFC for now, if ever again.

Mad props to Shogun for emphatically removing any doubt that he could beat Machida. It will be interesting to see where Lyoto goes from here as Rua has revealed to everyone the blueprints to defeat him.

itll be interesting to see who he fights next for sure.
i dont think knowing how to beat someone and doing it are the same.
I also dont think it was a glaring flaw that can be exploited routinely.

I think shogun is just a very very good fighter.
205 is an awesome division.
dana should cancel this bullshit sonnen fight no one cares about and make him fight anderson
If nothing else, I'm looking forward to all the shit Sonnen is going to talk in the coming months.

On Kimbo, i thought he was a Chump when i saw the fight he lost in Elite but after seeing him on TUF i really liked him and wanted to see him Kick ass.
Oh well.

dana gave him a chance not dana's fault kimbo has 0 cardio and drops after 2 leg kicks

The victory by Belcher was very impressive! Kimbo gassed again and can't take leg kicks. Nice victory by Marcus Davis. Stephens vs Stout was really close congrats to Stephens. Koschek and a phantom illegal strike I'm glad they didn't deduct a point for that BS! Koscheck won just as I thought he would. Rather classless act by Daley at the end. Holy shit Shogun very impressive! Though I do wonder about Machida's hand. However, I take nothing away from Shogun he came in the cage to make a point and HE DID! Funny thing is I took out Machida three times in the demo of UFC 2010 the same way clipped, went full mount and knocked out with punches.

The removal of Daley also seems like a big FU to Strikeforce. I completely agree with the decision.

not to misunderstand, i didn't blame dana. I just wanted to see him fight more. and the leg kicks looked like they hurt the knee that was buggin him on TUF.

So what is the future looking like now for Daley? Dream? Sengoku? I could see Dream picking him up for sure. Daley vs. Marius Zaromskis?

The thing is, Kimbo CLEARLY needs surgery on that knee, but from what I remember, he refuses to get it. If he doesn't have surgery though, his fighting career is done. And even with surgery, there's no telling how a guy his age is going to come back from it. But it's probably the best chance he's got if he wants to continue fighting. He has access to incredible doctors now. He needs to take advantage of it.

your right, i remeber that. I think he was even decling cortizone shots because he didn't like needles or doctors.

Not sad to see Kimbo go, he wasn't competitive and was never going to be. He wasn't going to get any better than he is now, and his legs and cardio and both no existent.

JKos is a fucking douchebag and I have zero interest in seeing him vs GSP. GSP already beat his ass once, easily too, and GSP is a much better fighter now than he was then. GSP by lay and pray for all 5 rounds.

Daley getting cut somewhat surprised me, only because he is a guy they were trying to make into a star. Can't say I blame them though, especially after the shit that went down at the last Strikeforce show. My guess is that is where Daley ends up.

Shogun is the man, and I am glad he won the way he did, with no controversy. Machida is probably done imo, he has been exposed and doesn't have much else in his toolbelt besides karate.

Rashad vs. Rampage just became a number one contenders fight.

seriously? this shit is retarded. not to pick on you specifically, but people making these kinds of comments are dipshits. exactly the reason I cant take mma conversations with joe public.

Yeah, I wouldn't say Machida is done at all. The Light Heavyweight division is just the most balanced of any division in the UFC. There are probably about 7-8 fighters that could beat each other on any given night. Look at the way the belt has just been passed around the past few years. Even as dominant as Shogun looks right now, I wouldn't be shocked at all if Forrest Griffin was able to beat him again. Then, you've got Machida, Evans, Rampage, Lil Nog, Anderson Silva moving up, and Jon Jones on his way. In other sports, they call that parity. It's too bad the other divisions don't have any. It keeps things interesting.

Speaking of stacked divisions, don't forget about the Heavyweights. Who thinks Dos Santos vs Velasquez is a possibility? That'd be pretty sweet =p
