Okay set of fights yesterday. I had been down on both Ellenberger and MacDonald, but, in hindsight, Ellenberger is entirely to blame for that lackluster fight. While not entirely interesting, Rory followed his instructions and embarrassed his opponent. Jake did almost nothing, which is disappointing, as Canadian Zoolander's chin is still suspect after getting hurt with one punch by a mediocre journeyman like Che Mills. However, no matter who he faces, I think Rory Mac is too smart/committed to brawl. A rematch with Condit would be the best bet to see if MacDonald has the tenacity to overcome hard, precise killshots.
As for the rest of the card, DJ's speed and wrestling is outrageous. I want to eventually see a rematch with Dodson, because I think Dodson will improve, and if he does, he has the power, resiliency, and speed to put DJ in trouble. In their first fight, his inexperience got the better of him, but he did legitimately knockdown Johnson a few times. Lineker, a rematch with McCall, and a rematch with Benavidez should be on the horizon if all three of them continue to win. However, outside of these four, the UFC truly needs to sign more flyweights. Only 16 in the entire division with only 4 or 5 as viable title contenders.
