Introduction:

Mobius Final Fantasy, previously named as Mevius Final Fantasy, a video game for iOS and Android, produced and lead by Yoshinori Kitase (The producer of Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 13). This game has been announced to release on 10am of 4 June 2015 in Japan. But the western release date has yet to be announced. The features gameplay of this game are still like map exploration, as usual. But moving across the map will be automated-tactical battles, and a leveling system.

Gameplay:

The player controls the game’s protagonist Wal while navigating at Paramitia Kingdom. The controls are specially optimized for mobile platforms, which player can went through the whole game play by touching the screen. During the local navigation on the field map, player can tap the location icon and the character will travel to that location. Mobius was a tactics-focused, turn-based battle system, with players able to perform an attack by tapping the screen. During combat, elemental core at the top screen will automatically generated every time when player performing an attack, or special skill. The elemental core is necessary to activate abilities, summoned monsters. While the core is enough, a skill icon tile will appears on side of the screen that allowed player touches to activate the ability. These abilities possessed their own attributes and elements. The elements can also be used to strengthen their resistance to elemental attacks, some enemy types have elemental weaknesses: by casting a water elemental spell on fire elemental monster repeatedly will empty enemy’s “Break Gauge” that will immobilize them and reduced its defense, allowing the player to attack freely and much easier to finish them off.

The job system was a key part of this game, player start off with “Onion Warrior” (Apprentice Sword-man). And later on, by complete the tutorials, player will received another 2 job cards – Apprentice Wizard’s Card and Ranger’s Card which allowed player to change Wal’s job and outfit by switching the job card. Each job can be enhances and leveled up by using a special elemental “seed” items which can be collected from battle. Once the skill panel is complete, the job will evolve, such as Onion Warrior evolving into the pure Warrior class. As jobs change or evolve, the character’s appearance will be much different.

Another attractive unique system is Elemental Drive, during battle player will noticed there is a small color circle located at the corner of your screen, by tap and holding it, an elemental list will appear, choose one of them will activate an elemental resistance buff to yourself for a several turns. And there will be a pinky elemental core appeared while during the battle, by tapping the Pink Elemental icon on the Drive, your health will be recover after consume all the Pink Elemental Core.

Every time when player using skills or elemental drive, the Ultimate Gauge will automatically generated. Player may active his own Ultimate Skill by tapping the Elemental Drive, and drag to a yellow bar. The Ultimate skill is varies different from each jobs.

Overall:

The overall gameplay was easy to play but it need more tactics and strategies to master this game, when facing a strong enemy, player have to figure it out what or which job class or skill should be use, in order to defeat it. Although the system provided an auto attack feature, but I think it will only make the boss fight getting worst, because a fine strategy is much needed during each fight. The graphic and storylines of the game was epic, its make everyone feel like “Wow, am I playing a PS4 game in a mobile platform?” This game has makes a brand new era for mobile games.

Good news is, the game is totally free to play, but the bad news is we have to pay in order to build a stronger deck. As we know, Some Japanese player said they had paid more than 10 thousand Yen still yet to get a 4 star Job’s card or a summon beast’s card. But the fact is, the stats has not much different between 3 star and 4 star card. So what is the point for 4 star cards?
