Moden Warfare 2 Prestige Edition - Comes w. Night Vision Goggles
Night vision + camping = fun and useful.
Night vision + coyote hunting = unsporting but also fun.
Night vision + hot neighbor = very fun but dangerous.
Night vision + lunch time & friend = hilarious results and possibly dangerous.

Use your imagination people. I personally would have rather had them throw in thermal goggles.
OK. That made me laugh.
If I get that job at GS I was promised, I may very well bite on this with the 15% discount.
Run! Run as far away as you fucking can! Do not work for GameStop!

I hope nothing else this year has a collector's edition. Batman, Beatles, Assassin's Creed (hopefully) and now this? I feel like I'm going to have to re-mortgage the house in order to pay for all my games.

Modern Warfare 2 with night vision goggles, Guitar Hero 5 with new plastic instruments, Tony Hawk with a plastic skateboard, DJ Hero with a plastic turntable, I think I see what Activision's strategy is. Trying to bleed gamers dry in a horrible economy. Classy.

Also it makes me pretty angry they are charging $60 for the PC version when they don't have to pay the licensing fees the console versions do. I'm not happy with how similar W@W was to MW, and MW2 looks like more of the same. After discovering Team Fortress 2 pretty much any multiplayer mode besides Left 4 Dead is no longer a real draw for me since I know I'm at most going to play it for a short time and then go back to TF2.

I bought CoD2 when I got my 360 and have been buying the rest of the series on release day since then but I'm seriously considering not buying MW2 until a pretty big sale since I'm just getting tired of the franchise and the way Activision is running it into the ground.

I'm just buying the regular edition, seems like a huge waste of money for the prestige edition, especially if its $120 plus because you can practically buy two games for the price of one.

The main problem is that gamers do not work together to stop this kind of BS. I personally try to rent every Activision game or buy them used from gamestop and then return it.

Holy shitting fuck, what? I hadn't heard about that (I haven't really been paying attention, either).

Forget it, Activision. CoD seriously isn't that good, that it gets to add on it's own extra $10 quality tax or whatever. I'm done with this damned series. I never understood the hooplah over CoD4, anyways.

As I've said a hundred times before: Activision is the worst major American publisher.

My 10 year old self would have loved this edition. Today, though, I rather get the Hardened Edition which is still a not sure from me. It looks a lot better than the CE for CoD4 though.

Technically not a deal, since there is no price detailed

:)

I don't know why anyone buys these things. All that matters is the game itself. They overcharge for that too but that is a different argument.

:applause:

i cant wait for this game to come out, i dont care about all these BS special editions just give me the damn game!

I'm SOOOOO getting this! One of few special ultra edition that has anything practical. Once it hit the bargain bins at gamestop for a rediculous price, it's as good as mine. Patience is key :).

I'm guessing $149.99+. $200+ asking price is too much for a consumer to pay. I don't recall how much the Halo 3 Legendary is, but this should cost more since its more than just a piece of plastic. Toy versions of NVG use to be $150 and now less than $90, but at least MW2 will have a big marketing before its release. I'm estimating marketing budget to be comparable to Halo 3 marketing budget! With how many copies of the Prestige Edition Activision is expected to sell from the the game brand and 'wow' factor, I think they will sell enough to keep the price from going near the $179.99 mark while retaining the 'premium' profit.

I don't think they'll be overproducing that many of these. It seems like one reason to have a "super premium" version and a premium version is to make a limited edition that is actually limited, in addition to a limited edition that isn't limited.

Besides, there is no way they are going to convince stores to carry a $200 game, even if it is Call of Duty. I think most have probably learned their lessons from Halo 3 and other premium editions already. With fewer orders, they'll have to limit the number printed, so I don't think we'll see that many show up in bargain bins.

I'll be picking up the regular edition of the game, if at all. I fell for Halo 3's legendary edition back when it came out, and it serves no purpose whatsoever. NVGs are somewhat cool, but I can definitely live without them. And everything else in there is unnecessary.

Looks like regular edition for me. The goggles would just collect dust and an extra $20 for an artbook and CoD1 code? I dont think so Tim. Why would I play the original CoD when I just purchased MW2...

Because you don't have to get up to switch the disk. It's the greatest feature a game could possibly have.

I'm a sucker for steelbooks so that's what I'm buying, I learned my lesson with the Halo Legendary edition, I'm never buying a $100+, SE, LE, CE, PE whatever they want to call them, again.

I loved the one comment on youtube i saw from the Infinity Ward video of the unboxing of the special edition.

"Night goggles? Shit...Wgy don't they just give us a real gun?"

All that video made me want to do is buy decent NVGs and skip the game.

Kotaku says the Prestige Edition will be 150 bucks, so I wouldn't expect those goggles to be exactly top-of-the-line if that info is correct.

Why do I have to have all this GS credit right now. I know my dumbass will be running around the neighborhood with these stupid things on my head and a lightsaber come November .

I can see Bobby Kotex threating Best Buy now, "either you open more shelf space for our skateboards and NVG's or we are not allowing you the honor of selling our games anymore"

Did you ever? Seriously, dude, real image-intensification NVGs cost hundreds and thousands of dollars.

There is no question: they are they toy-variety NVGs, and not really useful. It's just a cheap piece of shit B&W CCD (or CMOS, maybe) illuminated by some infrared LEDs near the front of the lens.

No, you cannot become a night-vision commando with these.

You're just jealous because of your lack of night vision goggles this fall.

I would wait for a review of the NVG before deciding to go with the Hardened Edition or the Prestige/Ripoff edition.

Most likely this NVG is a toy grade goggle that uses IR LEDs as the light source to illuminate objects in the dark, and in which case, the range would really suck.

There is no "most likely" about it being "toy grade."
