I hope the experts on ESPN are wrong. They're predicting a Yankees Phillies World Series. I wouldn't mind the Phillies making it if my Cubbies don't but the last thing baseball needs is ANOTHER Yankees world series!

The reason the Braves aren't even going to make an offer to Jones: Andruw never listened to Terry Pendleton (Braves hitting coach) when he was telling him what would fix his average this year. He's a career .263 hitter, but I doubt he'll see too much above .250 again. He's too stubborn to hit for an average, he wants to jack the ball each and every time. He's lost at least a half-step in the outfield as well.

The Braves made a business decision. Especially with Scott Boras as his agent. They were looking at 17-20 mil a season.
I don't think the yanks are going to get by clev.
C.C, Carmona, and Westbrook look like a solid lineup...the yanks is going to have a tough time..especially if Pronk gets hot.

since the yanks/cle series has the shorter days off schedule, I would think that both teams would be going with a 4 man rotation. If that is the case, paul byrd is a solid #4 guy for clev espically considered he is going up vs mussina who has been really shit more often then having avg starts. If NY is able to pull it off, i wonder how there bullpen will be, as clemans usually goes 6 and mussina has been avg somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 or so ip per outing. That would be back to back games with abuse given to the bullpen.

Beckett is on his A game tonight (so far 4ip, 1h, 4k, 0bb and 51 pitches)..and the sox continue to club lackey so far (3ip 8h, 1bb, 0k 4er)

Colorado took the opener vs the phils.
Interesting post-season...and a controversial finish to the Rockies/Padres game

I'm hoping the Angels (yea I live in LA/OC area) and Cubs (who cares about the superstitious bullcrap) in the World Series...

I'm tired of seeing the Red Sox and Yankees in the post season...it's so boring IMO to see them every year.

Also, I think the playoff bracket isn't deserving like other sports...only 8 teams (4 from each league) can make it.

I think they should do something like the NFL...have the top two teams from each league get a bye in the first round while the other 8 teams duke it out in a best of 3 series, then the usual LDS, LCS, and World Series.

But it's my own imagination, I know Bud Selig is old school and won't let that happen for a long time now...
the yanks have been to the ws a lot, but the redsox haven't...06 didn't make playoffs, 05 first round loss to chw, 04 won it, 03 lost to yanks in alds, 02 - 00 didn't make it....the angels on the other hand, have as many appearances in the playoffs since 2000 as the redsox do, and they both have won the ws once. I don't see how you could be sick of the redsox, considering they have as much post season time as the angels in the last 7 years. They even have the same post season series records...(not w/l, but overall series w/l)

As for your playoff idea, it sounds good, but you would need to shorten the regular season. Unlike football, which only plays 1 games a week, baseball is a 5 or 7 game series. I personally like that format as it is great seeing a series go the distance to have a 7th (or 5th) deciding game. IMO, a best of 3 doesn't work as well as a best of 5 game series.

As for the angels, they don't match up well vs the redsox. They do match up very well vs the yanks though. If the Angels came in 2nd, and faced the yanks in the first round, I could see the angels making it to the WS. As boston would be in a big fight vs clevand and who knows who would have won that in a 5 game series.

Here are my first round predictions

bos vs ana ...boston in 4
clev vs NY...clev in 4 (maybe 5)

cubs vs arz cubs in 5
col vs phil ...col in 4

Here's to a Red Sox-Yankees ALCS, the only two teams that matter. Once nondescript west coast team and nondescript midwest team are out of the way, we can get to the real playoffs, followed by a series against sacrificial NL team.

I would love to see the Angels beat the Red Sox, Indians beat the Yankees, and then Indians advance to the World Series.

On the National League side Rockies over Phillies, Cub over D-Backs, Cubs over Rockies, and then Cubs over Indians. I'd like to see teams get in there that haven't won or been to a World Series in awhile.

beckett is looking good 8ip, 8k's 0bb's 3 hits....

While it would be nice to have a yanks/redsox alcs, IMO clevand pitching in a short series to too good and will shut the yanks down. I would prefer to see the yanks get knocked out in 3 games, and then have the redsox sweep the indians (wishfull thinking, imo won't happen  ) That way torre will get fired, posada, petite, rivera and arod will leave and the yanks will be struggling for players next year. There isn't any decent FA catchers or closers available. Jobba is scheduled to be a starter next year, very few FA pitchers to replace petite and clemans and besides lowell no other 3b worth signing.
Why the heck are the MLB playoffs on a station that doesn't broadcast in HD?
TBS is in HD, it's just that about 10 people are able to get it.

If you have Directv they recently added more HD channels and TBS was one of them. I didn't care about it until I realized that a lot of the Playoffs were on TBS.

I've got Time Warner Cable. I had satellite service (dish network) a couple years ago before I got my HDTV. The only reason I switched to cable was because they couldn't broadcast the local channels in HD over the dish. I was told I would have to install a HD antenna on my house so I could pick those channels up. I didn't want to hassle with that so I made the change.

Bad call by Pinella to pull Big Z in the 7th. He said he pulled him to pitch him on 3 days rest, a game that YOU HAVE TO WIN AT LEAST ONE TO GET TO! I hope the Cubbies can bounce back tonight.
Terrific game, looks like some of your predictions are already off. ;)

Here's to Diamondbacks winning it in 3.
goooooooooooooooooooooooooo snakes! Eric Byrnes always had nothing but good things to say about the Home Run King
What does Eric Byrnes have to say about Sadaharu Oh?
good things no doubt, byrnsy is a funny guy and was always on talk radio when he was in oakland. he sure doesnt crap on peoples posts when they express support for their favorite player
Oh, you mean Bonds, who is second all-time in HRs?

Sorry, you said 'Home Run King.'
i think trolls are people who constantly talk shit bout peoples posts like you and crytown. all i ever do is say positive things about teams and players i like. check your ToS before you threadcrap thanks homie go snakes

If you weren't trolling, you wouldn't get upset everytime someone says something negative about Bonds. We also call that 'fantasyland.'

Listen, the man is an admitted steroids user, and a complete asshole to boot. How are these two things debateable?

Also, we're discussing the postseason - something 'your boy' isn't a part of. Please do try and keep up with the discussion without the need to interject how much you love Barry Bonds. Why do you like him so much, anyways? There isn't anything wrong with it, but you border on obsession.

I don't want to have to ignore you - I think you are seriously misguided, and there are ways that we can enlighten you. I know being 14 is tough, thinking that everyone is out to get you and hate on everything you like.

I thought you liked the Giants. Why root for a division rival?

If we are indeed discussing the post season and not Bonds, why did you leave your initial asshole reply?

I'm having some fun with him. Feel left out?

Nah, it just seems unnecessary for you to put down other CAGs for no real reason. Attempting to insult them for their age and threatening to put them on your ignore list just seems a little childish.

Back to baseball:

I too hate watching games on TBS.

My girls are sick and I haven't had a good night's sleep in several days. All shall suffer.

I got tired of him trying to interject into every post about how he loves him some Barry, so I decided to ask him some legitimate questions. We'll see how he responds, or if he likes him because it's popular - or not-popular, who knows what these kids do these days.

The biggest loser of Monday Nights playoff 1 game SD/CO playoff was the Phillies... I have no doubt in my mind that they would've been the class of the NL playoff teams, if San Diego would have won that damn game.

Right now the Rockies are just to damn hot. It sucks man.
If the Phillies lose, some of my gym teachers will be a little pissed..

Better be ready for some PT tomorrow.

Sounds like you need to take your own advise and think before you thread crap. The only reason you keep posting your idiotic comments is to get a reaction. I suggest everyone in this forum put you on ignore since you're nothing but a thread troll. Either that or go start a "BARRY BONDS IS THE GREATEST" thread, whack off to it, and post to your hearts content.

its not my fault your a cubs fan.

whats up with cc and his 6 walks? im tbs-less were any of those intentional or what

A combination of him being a bit wild and a tiny-ass strikezone (consistently tiny, but still tiny).

I hope the offense doesn't burn themselves out tonight, but damn. Keep piling it on and hopefully make the Yankees use a few more pitchers to throw the 'pen out of whack for the rest of the series.
Cleveland is giving the Yankees some what-for. That was a helluva inning.
No kidding, I'm starting to feel sorry for 'em.

What does my being a Cubs fan have to do with you being gay for Barry Bonds? Yes, I'm a Cubs fan, so what?

are you bitter that we sent dusty baker over there to kill your pitcher's arms? it was my master plan haha
No kidding, I'm starting to feel sorry for 'em.
Well, stop. They're the Yankees. When they spend as much money as they do and still fail to even make the playoffs (not likely for a long time from now, surely), then perhaps you can feel bad for them.
are you bitter that we sent dusty baker over there to kill your pitcher's arms? it was my master plan haha
Dusty was worthless. Wasn't he the manager of the Giants when they blew a 3-1 lead in the World Series to the Angels?

Hope the rest of the Yanks series goes like this

It's only one game, but if they do it again the Yanks are finished.
