Clay Buchholtz no-hitter. Awesome.
Awesome except that ESPN had to cut to it in the middle of the K-State Auburn game to show it...

Almost no hitters in back-to-back nights. The Twins were 3 outs away from a perfect game and 2 from a no-no last night.

Congrats Clay.

Jim Leyland does not know how to manage a bullpen.

You have the day off tomorrow. You can go a little deeper into your bullpen if you have to. Instead, he lets Rodney load the bases, and then 3 runs on 2 consecutive hits. When Jones clearly doesn't have it in the 9th, he lets him give up a 2-run HR, tying the game and sending them to a extra-innings loss. This is the second time in 3 starts that Nate Robertson has had a great performance nullified by the bullpen losing in extra innings.

They're fucked.

Wow, I'm glad the Cubs were able to rally this afternoon despite the umipre screwing Aramis Ramirez in 3 at-bats with a crappy strike zone. Had to win to keep pace with the Brew Crew and Cards.

I only saw the at bat he got ejected on but that one was a strike. If he got screwed like Corey Hart did on Thursday then he would have a point.

He had a right to get pissed. The umpire seemed to be calling that strike low and away (6 inches off the plate) only in his at-bats. I thought Lou was going to go out there and lose his mind on that umpire but surprising he didn't.

I was really glad to see D.Lee hit that homer. He's had a surprising lack of power this season. Hopefully he'll heat up for the stretch run. I saw the Cubs acquired Trachsel from the O's a couple days ago. I guess he's scheduled to start against the Dodgers on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I still think they will take the wild card...there pitching is too good espically with kenny rogers coming back....how long is sheffield out for

finally the mariners won :) and they beat the yanks :)

IMO, I don't know how the mariners have obtained the record they have, but they are the only team in baseball with 4 x 6 games or more losing streaks. To me that means they go on a hell of a hot streak from time to time. I still think the tigers will take the wild card, but I hope to hell it isn't the mariners. Boston plays horrible in seattle (1 win in 2 years) If seattle wins the wildcard that means we have to play them in the first round :(
Dammit! Zambrano got bombed AGAIN! He signed that phat contract and hasn't won a game since.
can you say 'barry zito'

Pedro pitched a lot better than my expectations. He had good command of his pitches. Early on his fastball was pathetic but later in the game he got it between 88-91. If he can step up it would be HUGE for the Mets. Big win today and the Phillies just keep losing :)

''I don't accept the fans booing at me,'' said Zambrano, who nodded at the crowd, yanked his jersey out of his pants and pointed to his head when he left in the fifth. ''I thought these fans were the greatest in baseball, but they showed they just care about themselves. That's not right. When you're struggling, you want to feel support.''

mlb.com is a pretty good one. Just have it show the elimination # column in the standings (this late in the season it might show automatically).

heck yeah...we finished strong this road trip...well salvaging it to win 5 straight before the hiccup today. Maine still worries me....It still looks like he is on fumes.he got smacked around like a pinball machine today. Humber looked alot better than he did in the spring but his command isnt there yet.

agreed on Pedro...if he keeps improving..we may have our piece to post season succcess.
Braves almost need to win out to make the postseason. I'm already switched into football mode, aside from the Sox.
Welcome to my world as a Twins fan. Of course if you are an Atlanta fan you have about as much to look forward to in football as I do.

At least the Steelers should make the postseason. I have that to look forward to.

Wow the Brewers got out the whuppin' stick and put a beatdown on the Astros. Cubs finally got a win against the Dodgers.

Just watched the highlights of the Phillies choking against the Braves...

buckholtz loaded the bases, and showing his composure got out of the inn with no runs scored. He pitched 3 inn and only allowed 1 hit

Nice. Sounds like Rick Ankiel read the Barry Bonds book of baseball success. Seems reports are coming out that he received shipments of HGH a few years back. No wonder he's been able to switch from pitcher to home run hitter.

Yeah, although he was given HGH to speed up recovery. I believe Bonds used the whole medicine cabinet.
OK Cubs. Way to hang in there and lose 6-1 to the Pirates tonight... Awesome and the fade officially begins...
so bitter you have to start talking crap about barry bonds again? man it must be lame to be a cubs fan
mets conintuing pounding of the braves...hope they bring out the brooms again.
They need to carry this over to the Phillies series also.

I wouldn't worry too much about that anymore.

lol. The Sox were down 8-1 and are now up 16-9. I feel sorry for the Devil Rays for blowing such a huge lead. The Yankees won to, but it doesn't matter Sox are still in first and once we take 2-3 in fenway the regular season chase is over for sure.

The only problem we have to worry about post season is Wakefield and Dice K. These guys had some extremely shakey starts. Other then that I think the Sox have a real good chance this year if they can get past the Angels in the playoffs.

:( I know. Duque had no command at all today. The braves just took full advantage of that.

At least Philly also lost :)

We historically kill the angels. For some reason we smack there pitching around. The angels are team that least scare me for the red sox in the playoffs. Clev and the yanks have a better shot at beating us then the angels. I am hoping that clevand passes ana for 2nd best team in the AL, so we can play the angels in the first round.

Ortiz two run homer in the 9th to win it.

This guy has so many clutch hits in the 9th for the Sox this and last year... getting absurd.

Wow Cubs barely hung on for a 3-2 win. Looks like the Cards are finally falling out of the mix. Hopefully the Cubs can take the series against the red birds and put them out of their misery. Thank you Pittsburgh for returning the favor (taking the series against the Brewers).

I think he is around 13 or so for his career in boston..but he doesn't have many this year. Up untill about 2 wks ago, the sox had only one come from behind win going into the 8th and trailing. That had come in the first 2 months in the season, it might have been vs tampa.

Wasn't that the Baltimore meltdown in April/May??

now that i think of it, it was baltimore, as there was an oriole fan on the board pissed at the manager. I guess swithcing managers hasn't helped much, looking at there play the past month.

By the way, Klwillis45 you are GOING DOWN THIS WEEKEND ON YAHOO Fantasy baseball :)

I'm behind in almost all hitting cats but luckily my beloved Crew is facing 3 Reds jabronis this weekend. Should be an interesting finish.

I don't believe I've ever won a fantasy title as a #1 seed so you've got that going for you...which is nice.
