yeah, i know i come off as a bitch, but its just the way this series has gone has been frustrating, and i my undieing hate for the cubs have just gotten me fed up. the only team i hate more than the cubs is the yankees and they are not in the same division. all i really have to take comfort in is that the core of the team should remain the same for years to come and the brewers will contend all those years (at least it would seem so)

we won! i cant believe we won and the bullpen almost blew it...sometimes all offense can win games..but at a damn price....Beltran is out again...THIS SUCKS!

Actually I see your point... Sounds like your hatred for the Cubs = my hatred for the Cardinals. The Brewers are on the rise and will be in contention for a long time with all that young talent they have. Trust me I know the meaning of frustration... In the dictionary it should say "frustration, see Cubs fan"

It still gives me a sick feeling to see footage from the Bartman game although I don't blame the poor guy. The Cubs had plenty of chances to get out of the inning after the Bartman incident but they didn't get it done.

I am a huge mets fan, but they do not deserve to make the playoffs...the Phillies will make more noise in the playoffs than the mets.
you are not a brewers fan, the umps are handing this division to the cubs and as a brewers fan you should try watching the games and seeing that a series full of blown calls is what has cost the brewers this division, not yost. Blaming yost is something a bandwagon fan would do. The brewers are a better team at half the price. So as my finals words, you cubs fans enjoy the continuation of your inability to do anything in the playoffs "losers in real life, losers as fans"
you're not the yankess, you cant buy a championship have fun with your short lived success cuz the brewers are easily taking the division next year
Are you sure you're not a Cubs fan with this 'wait til next year' mentality?

honestly, if you people watched these games, you would see just how remarkbly terrible the umps were in that braves series, and even to a point tonight. the umps cost the brewers two games in a very tight race. the brewers should be one game back and instead sit three back with just an outside chance at the division. so dont call me a whiner, cuz its not like its one play, its a series of blown calls

I have not seen the games just watching the scores over the Brewers games but you must be in denial if you think the only reason the Brewers are 3 back is due to the umps.........you do realize they have just played like shit lately? Also it helps that the Cubs are on their hottest streak of the year by far.

You might be a die hard Brewers fan as I am a die hard Cubs fan, but you seriously need to take your head outta your ass and actually see what else is going on. You could be completly correct in stating the calls were bad but since your a Brewers fan every close call the umps calls for the other team your going to assume it was a horrible call.......

The Brewers had a 8+ game lead on the division several months back. They have nobody to blame but themselves for hitting the skids and letting the Cubs back into the division race. To sit there an whine about a few calls in 2 games out of 162 and say that was what cost you your chance at the playoffs is just stupid.

Has the umpiring been awful lately? You bet.

Is that why the Brewers won't win the division? Hell no. Try 16 games of 3 or more run leads blown (6 of which were 5+) for starters.

That said MLB really needs to crack down on these shitty umps. I've seen more bad umpring this year (and not just in Brewer games) than any year I can remember. The worst offender, Froemming, is hanging em up after this year (about 3 years too late) so that'll help but only a little.

I'd like to know what the horrible officiating was. I know you're going to refer to the Francoeur play, but it's as obvious as the day is long that he missed the tag.

As far as 1st base calls go, they average out over the course of the season.
A week ago this would have sounded ridiculous, but the Braves actually have a shot at getting into the playoffs.
Outside shot, but it is very interesting to watch that unfold. Too bad they couldn't have swept the Brewers, they would have another win under their belts and the Cubs would have a 4 game lead heading into today :D

I was pulling for the Braves this past weekend as was the entire Wrigley Field crowd!

Looks like the Cubs are going to give one of those games back the the Brewers tonight. They lost to the Marlins and the Cardinals aren't even trying.

Well the AL is pretty much done outside of the Yankees-Sox fight for first in their division, and the four way fight for first overall. Sox have a two game edge with five games remaining depending on the Yankees outcome tonight, which could stay at 2 or go to 3.

In the NL anything can happen. The Braves can win their remaining games and possibly make the wild card, and Brew Crew isn't out of it just yet. Let's not forget about the Rockies either, as they have won 8 in a row now, and the shakey Mets who have a slight chance to not make anything if they continue losing, however, with the Braves beating the Phillies they do have more breathing room if they manage to take a game here and there.

The NL is really interesting at this point.

Braves still have a shot at the East and the WC. This is nuts. Not going to happen either way, but this is nuts.

I'm glad to see we're playing our asses off and not giving up.

does larussa even care anymore? he plays a hurt pujols just cuz that jackass wants his 100 rbi, then accuses suppan of trying to hit pujols in the head. In a 9-1 game, is this guy serious?
aside from that, how can fielder not be the mvp? hes having a monster season and leading a brewers team in a playoff hunt one year removed from a sub .500 season.
and to the cubs fans, what was ramirez barking at the umps about? that called strike was clearly down the plate, so either hes nuts, or espn left out what else lead to that (which i wouldnt put past them)

he can easily not win, hes not in the top 5 in the NL in Hits, Runs, Doubles, BA, OBP and his team will prob not make the playoffs and they slipped from the Central lead after holding it for a long period of time.

Sox won tonight, Yankees lost. Sox are up by 3 games with 5 to go. Magic number is 3.

Lester, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, and if necessary Schilling will start the next 5 for the Sox, though Tavarez will probably make that last start to set the rotation for the playoffs. Lester faces Oakland and the other 4 are against Minnesota.

The Yankees have Wang, Hughes, Mussina, Pettitte, and a spot starter (maybe Igawa), Clemens is done for the regular season. 2 are against Tampa and 3 are against Baltimore.

If the Yankees go 5-0, the Sox still have to go 2-3 or worse to lose the division.

Lucks on our side because we are pretty good against Minnesota and Oakland, and we are at Fenway. Yankees aren't good against Tampa (still have two against them) but pwn Balitmore for their last 3 games. So this is truly in the Sox hands now. Hoping they come away with one more win tonight to make me feel better.

Oh, and for those Yankees fans/Sox fans that claim getting into the playoffs only matters. This is mostly true, but after having a sizable lead in the division you really don't want to lose it, esp as a Sox fan who was harassed all season with our huge lead when the Yankees got 1.5 games within first place ;)

Also it looks like if the Tigers win all four games and the Yankees lose all five (Doubtful) there will be a playoff game for the wildcard. Otherwise yeah AL is pretty much done.

I always remind my Yankee fan friends about which team had the biggest choke in playoff history and that usually shuts them up.

I was wondering about that myself. I haven't seen the highlights but was watching the game via gamecast on ESPN. I saw the note the A.Ram was tossed in the 9th.

better for teh yanks to play clevand then ana...the yanks were horrible vs ana...did very good vs clevand but you didn't face sabathia, and most likely you will face him 2 x in the post season

Damn the Cubs are about to go 0-2 since pulling 3 games up on the Brewers. The damn Marlins have joined forces with the goat to destroy us!

Wtf I know lmao. We really suck balls against the Marlins though. Also lets all pray the cardinals can hold the lead.

I just hope the Sox show no mercy to the Twinkies because the Orioles pretty much gave up their season months ago, and I doubt will give much effort against the Yankees.

The NL is pretty damn wild. Unfortunately the Braves lost, but they did pretty damn good to get back in to contention before the season was over.
dont worry, turnbow is in, we're screwed
How right you are. A 4 pitch walk to a .176 hitter to load em up & its all downhill from there. Way to start playing beanball too when your down one with a chance to cut the Cubs lead to 1.

Sox and Yankees both won, Sox are 3 up with 4 to go, magic number is 2. I'm pretty confident about tomorrow with Beckett starting.

I hope the mets lose every single game they have left this season...they do not deserve to go to the playoffs.

I hate saying this because I am a mets fan...but might as well give the playoff spot to a team who might make some noise.

Bah dont get me started. i know DomLando will give his 2 cents also.

if the mets listened to "make plays not excuses" than maybe Willie would light a fire under these players. Tonight was a good game even though there was no offense. atleast Martinez is getting his butter back. We might as well lost the series to the Marlins next. The bullpen blows and Willie cant manage right. They blew wright's chance at any chance for the MVP award. They blew what could have been another season and a potential back to back NL East title..but nope....laziness,no bullpen, and a passive manager cant win you games unless your joe torre. I really think thats how willie manages like. He must be trying to emulate that same style Torre has..and its not working. Oh Bobby where are thou?
Since the Braves are out, go Phillies.
This is exactly how I feel. Atlanta made a good run here at the end, but we couldn't pull it out.

I will not comment on the Mets at this time as I am so disgusted with there play.

giants, how do you get rid of your best player and expect be better? thats like going on a mcdonalds and doughnuts diet and expecting to get laid all the time. ugh i couldnt even put on my fave hoodie today. until arod signs on the dotted line, i'm boycotting.

LMAO. You're so pathetic.

Great sports night tonight. Mets lose, Phils win, West Virginia is getting embarassed, and the Braves are winning, Brewers might get eliminated, and the Red Sox may win the East. A perfect storm.
Red Sox are AL East Champs.
QFT.
See you in the playoffs Yankees.

Pretty upset about the Bucholz situation but not much you can do about it.

GO CUBS!!!!

If theres any team I wouldn't mind losing to in the world series It's the Cubs. They need a world series like the Sox did a few years ago.

Bonds is still a great hitter when he can play. That's the problem. Hasn't had over 500 plate appearances since 2004 (3 years ago) and he is now 43.

$16 Million is a lot for a guy who only plays 4 days a week.
IT'S FINALLY OVER THE CUBS ARE THE 2007 NL CENTRAL CHAMPS!!!

QFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emotional year for you guys. After the crappy start, then Lou flipping out, then the Barrett-Zambrano fiasco.

Man the Marlinsfuck ed us over and now they're fuck ing over the Mets. Son of a.... On a lesser note I was really hoping the Royals would finish out of last place this year but I think the loss to the Tribe tonight seals their fate. I would've given my relatives so much crap if the Sox finished BEHIND the Royals...

I can finally break my silence on this thread with a big exhale.....whew!!

Now lets go Cubbies!....Let's do some good!
