Acer AL2017BMD 20" LCD Monitor

Does anyone know if this lcd monitor is any good? I would like to use it for gaming, dvd viewing, and web browsing. Should I be concerned that the Native Resolution is 1400x1050? What happens if my video card can't support it? Am I able to use a resolution below that? Any help is much appreciated. (man, i hate shopping for stuff..)
If the lcd monitor is no good, could someone please suggest a good brand that is below 300 dollars (below 250 is even better)? Thx again.
