Monitor suggestions?

Kevfactor

CAGiversary!
my 2nd monitor for my other pc is about to die. hdmi dont work at all for it. only the hdmi/dvi works and usally there is a green line on the side for 20 mins.

anyways im looking for a good gaming monitor with low response time,120hrz and 16:9 ratio. not sure what to get without spending too much money(really like to spend no more than 320 fo rhte thing if i can get away with it!). a long time ago i seen some thread about korean monitors but im not sure if that's a valuable option anymore hehe. any suggestions? thx :)

The Korean 1440p monitors are definitely still a great value, though I do believe they've gone up slightly. My 1440p Shimian is still running strong. It's easily one of my best PC related purchases I've made. Since using it, there is no way I'd ever go back to anything smaller.

know of any low response time korean monitors?

best i seen was 6. about 2 better than most ips but i really want 2 for gaming :)

I game like crazy on my Shimian and response time has literally never been an issue (it's 6ms). FPS games, strategy games, MOBAs, etc... No problems.

I'm thinking about replacing my 22"/23" setup with like a 27" single monitor solution - tell me more about this Shimian.
Here is a review.

As mentioned at the end of the Anandtech review, the biggest risk with these is getting a cluster of dead pixels or a monitor that outright doesn't work. I'd imagine you could return it, but it's going to be a pain in the ass since they're coming from Korea. You don't really get a warranty either.

Now, that said, both myself and a friend ordered one and ours are absolutely flawless and still running strong roughly a year or so later.

Purchase the crossovers or QINX Korean IPS from Accessories whole on ebay. he gives a 1 year warranty on all the monitors sold, superb feedback, and everyone on toms hardware and overclock forums rave and are very satisfied from this seller.

That it's a lot for a 24" 1080p monitor.

Seriously, don't fall for the dumb response time gimmick "gaming monitors". I've been playing PC games casually and competitively for 10+ years on various monitors and have never ever taken issue with response time on any of them. I mean, obviously you don't want something with a super high response time, but anything that's like 8ms or below (which is most monitors) is fine.

Well you do have good taste in music. QOTSA!

If I build a PC, this is the monitor i want tho. I want to do 120 fps. My only concern is if i'd be able to do a triple monitor setup with it and some cheaper monitors later.

actually had to cancle the monitor :(

pc chair broke and i had to get a new one.t his oen one though feels really great and wish i spent extra money on a chair like this sooner hehe. i also cancled cable and got direct tv to save some money but with the installation and junk it might take 2 months to even out. then I'll be saving 40$ there!

Just got to make due with one for now. After the steam summer sell ,though, Im going in on one of them Korean monitors! =p
