I can tell you the microsoft component cables are equal to the monster version. I've had both and for some games noticed one to out perform the other, but for $30 cheaper I'd go with the microsoft brand. I have my monster cables hooked up right now and the blue lead prong is going out as well. As far as pricing I'd check ebay.

this is not xbox specific, but i've read/or heard that the longer the cables are in length, the more signal strength is lost, so it's better to get just the needed length for your setup. (would appreciate if experts could chime in here)

as far as 'Monster' cables go, I still believe they overcharge/overprice their stuff. I picked up component cables for my dvd the other day at Fry's. The Philips brand, 6 ft, were only $16.99. :D

Waste of money.

Buy another brand with a good rep for half the price and spend the rest of your money on another game.

The difference in quality between Monster and its nearest competitors is not discernable with the human eye.

Monster's rep is built on marketing money alone, as they spend the most in advertising, and promoting their products to store sales people. I would not be surprised if sales people or their managers received some sort of incentive to push the Monster product -- though I sure there are people on the board who can speak to this better than I.

If you can find used monster cables at gamestop, the s video version are $5 and the component cables are $10

i used to work at bestbuy ("loss prevention" the dude in the yellow shirt giving out flyers lol), they used to push the sales staff to sell the monster cables (they really are WAY over-priced) but im going to go on what you guys have told me. unfortunately i live in Canada, no gamestop, or fry's here - but i guess ill look for the madcatz cables or the microsoft ones and save some bux.

p.s. do u guys know if i can order online at gamestop or fry's and ship here?

Don't buy Madcatz cables they are not the best quality. I'm pretty sure eb and gamestop ship to Canada. Ebgames.com gets the microsoft component cables preowned every once in a while. If you apply cag15 and saver you get 15% off and free shipping.

The microsoft cables seem to go for $20 at BB and is probably the best deal to go with. The other thing is that when gamestop sells monstercables used, they're sold under the generic tag of 3rd party cables and if you did order this item online you would probably get madcatz or a simelar brand

Monster Cables are a rip off!!!!!

I got suckered into buying them for my audio/video setup after xmas and there was no difference between those and a less expensive brand.

It all depends on what kind of setup you are running. I would in no way recommend spending the extra amount for Monster if all you have is a cheap 27 inch Apex TV, but if you are running a home theater with a good HDTV then its worth it for some of the benefits that Monster Cable has over cheap generic cables - especially if the cables are magnetically shelded.

I have this set myself, the quality of the cables are good and they are worth the extra dough. However if you are not worried about magnetic shelding and just want to go on the cheap...

These will do a pretty decent job. Of course if you REALLY want to go cheap, just find three video composite cables and use those. Between all the unused A/V cables you probably have around you might be able to make a homemade component cable set. Might not look the best... but its cheap. :D

Monster is garbage.
They use run of the mill materials, and toss in cheap shielding, wrapped up in a fancier case.

There is no difference in the resistance, when compared to the Microsoft brands'. Go ahead,......... OHM it out.
I've not ohmed out a set of the THX's,.... but those are for standard component connections.

I can't lie,... I have some Monsters,....... but only cause I got them at a vendor's going out of business sale.
Otherwise,... they are JUNK!!!

Check out this site, if you're looking for PROFESSIONAL, HIGH-GRADE, PERFECTION!!!!

They are pricey,.... but the quality is unrivaled for those prices. We're talking purity!!!
The Silver Serpents are magnificent,............ I have a set, and would drop that cash again, if I wasn't always going broke, thanks to Cheapy and you guys.
:)

Seriously,... stick with the M$ HD pack. It's worth every penny.
:)

Its basically your money -- if it makes u feel good buying them, then drop the dough. But, there are plenty of competitors that make comparable products.

Check your TRU. I was able to get a Microsoft Advanced A/V pack for $2. Equal quality to Monster brand.

I work at a major Monster Retailer. Oh heck.. I manage a RadioShack.

We sell Monster Products.

I can tell you they are appreciably better on most setups, but not worth the investment if you're trying to save money.

My honest recommendation is to get a set of the RadioShack branded Gold Series Cables.

See, we tried to compete directly with Monster offering our Fusion line of products last year, and we test marketed Monster in another area, and Monster sold better. (Though I think the Fusion was as good of a cable) Don't let anyone know I said that. Now we sell Monster exclusively.

Why did I just type all that? Because Fusion is now packaged as "Gold Series" for about half the original price. a six foot component video is 30 bucks, and I think almost as good as Monster Ultra which is sold for $100!!!

If you work for RadioShack, you get 60% off monster though, so you might want to look into that.

Just make sure to get the one with the smooth shiny end... and the ferrite core filters built in... not the rough gold colored end.... that's the old Gold Series that has been replaced.

The old Gold Cables were ok... but the Fusion is much much better.
