Monster DVI -> HDMI Cable $20

Man. Seriously contemplating this. Froogle shows lowest price at 65 or so, and some places are well over 100.

Hmmm....
All HDMI cables have the exact same performance. If you want to buy monster, you're just paying for packaging.
Whoever taught you that clearly has absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

while that is true, alot of the time you are paying for the monster name, whereas there are companies who are cheaper and provide the same and in some cases better performance.

Ok so I have a DVI port on my HDTV does that mean I would need a DVI to DVI cord and not one of these HDMI to DVI cords? Or does the HDMI part go into your pc??

DVI-DVI

How's DVI to DVI gonna look? Will it be just like using a computer monitor in terms of resolution and stuff? Cause I'd really like to hook up an old pc to my HDTV and be able to run some emulators.

I'm sorry to tell you but HDMI uses a digital signal, it is not like analog and it will not loose its strength (like analog does.) You will know when you have a bad digital signal it will become blocky/(or sound cutting in and out, for digital sound) and will receive no signal not signal lose like analog. A $6 HDMI cable from monoprice = $100 Monster HDMI cable.

I’m sorry to tell you but you wasted a hell of a lot of money and you are the one that “has absolutely no idea what you’re talking about." :booty: ;)

HDMI cables are digital, retard.

All digital cables (like HDMI, optical audio, etc) have the exact same performance. Cheap analog cables (like component) can have signal degradation, but this doesn't happen with digital cables unless you use one that is too long.

I hope this was helpful, it's obvious nobody "taught" you at all.

DVI is digital and is the same as HDMI but HDMI carries sound too and that's why it is better if you have HDMI-HDMI hookups.

aww damn I doubt my 56" has HDMI, if I have DVI on my HDTV how do I get sound from my computer?

I would have to agree with everyone else in that it does not matter what cable you use for HDMI, as it is a digital signal. This is why OTA (over the air) HDTV transmissions look just as good as the ones that come through your cable. The only difference w/ OTA is that the signal can break up, unlike cable. When it breaks up, the picture simply disappears. It's all or none. Not like analog, where you can get just some of the picture.

An $100 HDMI monster is the same as a $6 HDMI.

Digital audio in/out, or just hook your sound system up to your PC.

Sams Club has good deals on HDMI and DVI cables if you're a member.

I can't remember the exact price, but it was roughly $15 for a DVI>HDMI conversion and $13 for a HDMI cable.
