I'm a total newbie at importing games but i was considering importing this one from Play Asia....can this game be read in english? and is it region protected?

not region code, but you wont be able to save unless you are using 2.0

why is that? you mean you have to have >=2.0 to play it?

New methods to prevent piracy. So if you buy the game it'll ask you to update before you can play it, otherwise if you're just using a hacked ROM/ISO with a emulator enabled firmware you can never save your progress.

I'd wait for an english release, the original game had quite a bit of text for mission taking and it probably wouldnt allow you to play with anyone in the US that has it when it eventually comes out here.
