Pan's Labyrinth?

$3.00?

Holy crap...

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'm going to drive out to Big Lots sometime this week.

Dude are you serious?

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Before Sunset (for the lady!)
An American Werewolf in London
Beetlejuice
Capote
Dog Day Afternoon
The Exorcist (original)
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
These are all good too.

Pan's Labyrinth has been confirmed by many over at DVD talk... The new shipment of Dog Day Afternoon is the 2 disc version (bought it the other day)

I'm personally looking for a copy of Swimming With Sharks SE from the selection of $2 discs a week or so ago... That included a triple feature of Van Wilder, boat trip, and going overboard... Not the best movies, but for $2 total... Can't beat that... I've got BR and HD-dvd but still but titles at these prices even if they are only SD

Got The Professional from BL's selection of BF DVDs for $2 a few weeks ago

The price of that has dropped a lot. I think it's the whole Spanish thing and no one likes reading movies. :)

Just remember Big Lots DVDs are very YMMV. My store hardly has anything but bootleg-type stuff and the usual barebones MGM stuff. The PC games they have are always shovelware which is a bummer.

I hit one in Decatur, GA last week, and found something I would have NEVER expected:
Action: The Complete Series! (Jay Mohr as movie producer) It's a 2-disc set, and it goes for about $21 on Amazon. SO HAPPY.
im gonna try an snag 2 disc dog day afternoon.... i assume pans labrynth is single disc.. or id pick it up to
Pan's is a 2 disc w/ bonus features. The "New Line 2-Disc Platinum Series" to be exact.
As for the Baron Munch version, I don't know what kind or how to tell, release is 2004.

maybe this link will work; (exact cover)

It was hard to find the exact cover image as other versions are more popular.
This was with the Monty Python 3 pack many people got for free during that Pepsi Stuff promotion.
Good movie IMO.

Went to two today and picked up Action, Dog Day Afternoon, BeetleJuice, Adaptation, Jeremiah Johnson, and Red Dragon at the first store. Went to the second one looking for Pan's Labyrinth and Baron Manchausen didnt find them but found a copy of An evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder instead. I'm happy with the haul.

A lot of great deals at Big Lots....bought the Hell Boy II director's box and thought about getting that special edition of Panic Room but I'll tell you it's hard to stop DVD buying (esp. if you moved on to Blu-ray) when you see prices this low...

Tonight I got:

THX 1138 2-disc director's cut
Close Encounters of the Third Kind CE
1941 CE
The Devil's Backbone (another great movie by Guillermo del Toro)
The Replacement Killers SE

The movies were $2.00 each after the 20% coupon and discount. The special is 4 movies for $10, which works out to a $0.50 discount on each, but I got $0.50 off of all 5, plus another $0.50 off of each for the coupon. I guess you get the discount for 4 or more DVDs.

I'm going to hit some more BL locations tomorrow, I hope I can find the Hellboy movies, Baron Munchausen, Dog Day Afternoon and Pan's Labyrinth.

I had brought up the point in another forum, up to the forth, they still charged regular price, when the 4th was rand up, it rang up all dvds for the 4 for 10 deal... the coupon made the deal that much sweeter... I actually used it on 4 dvds and a futon mattress and saved $30 total

Be sure to try to find the TWO disc Dog Day afternoon of you can find that... the only Hellboy thay have is the fist one, BUT it is the 3 disc (I got mine from a trade with another dvd talker), Panic Room 3 disc is another great title to look out for. They have recently put out new stock of HBO, Warner, and Universal titles... though the 4 for ten deal is done, you can still use the coupon

What state are you all in? I have gone to all of the Big Lots in the South Bay, CA and have found none of these movies. It is very unfortunate.

I'll keep an eye out for the 2-disc DDA, thanks. As for Hellboy, both funkflexmctough and kndy mentioned seeing Hellboy II on the first page of this thread, though it seems kind of soon to see that one so cheap.

I'm in Florida.

I'm in NC.

Went back today and got the following

Capote
Darkman
Dawn of the Dead (newer ed.)
Ed TV
the Karate Kid
the Life & Death of Peter Sellers
Reality Bites 10th anniv
Waterworld

I remember also seeing the following:

Adaptation
Dante's Peak
Jersey Girl
Sphere
Superman 2
Dawn of the Dead (newer ed.)
I was excited when I saw that, and an old war movie that I like called "The Beast"...but they were both full-screen format. :puke:

Beware of the full screen discs... Such as Dawn of the Dead and Johnny English... Instant non-buys for Me

Hellboy 2 has to be a mistake as in a much larger dvdtalk thread no mention of it was made... Only the 3 disc edition of the first, which is near impossible to find.

Lots of great titles available, some BL's have better stock than others. I've had better luck at locations that offer furniture because they generally are bigger stores than the others

many many dvds a the Bay City, MI Big Lots. I picked up the following:

The Fugitive Kind
Hi, Mom!
Gattaca
BowFinger
The Majestic
Ready 2 Rumble
Kevin Smith: Evening Harder
Talk Radio

They had a lot of great titles though, I just own most of them already.

Who's the Boss Season 1 was in one of the batches.. All confirmed by the way.. I wish mine still had the good stuff though, I looked all through it a while back, Dog Day Afternoon would have been great, I have a terrible Carbboard box version.. ick.

Last time I was there, I got the following:

The Corner
Best of Arliss
Def Poetry Jam Season 4
Def Poetry Jam Season 5
Rebel Without a Cause 2disc
Space Jam 2disc

I'm going to the local one friday morning, so I'll update then (hopefully they will have more anime in again).

BTW. Jersey Girl is NOT the Kevin Smith movie, but the earlier 1996 film.

I've been to all three of my local Big Lots in the Torrance/Lomita area, and they use to have quite good stocks of movies, but I've noticed in the last few months (starting before thanksgiving 08), their movie choices seem to be getting more limited. Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be much smaller quantities of DVDs to look through. Don't know why this is.

I wish I had found that, I did find Moonlighing Season 3
Is buy 4 for 10 over? I picked out 5 titles and none rang up cheaper. I was kinda mad >

Hadn't swung by a Big Lots in a bit, but found Evening with Kevin Smith 2 that has been mentioned. They appeared pretty picked over, but had a few of those. I also saw, and didn't see mentioned in the thread, one of the Starship Troopers animated discs. I only have two , and it happened to be one of them, but I was wondering if anyone else saw those and if so, what campaigns?
