More Craigslist Hilarity
What's bull is when someone never responds because they didn't like the price you gave when it's "name your price" or "best offer". Obviously you don't really want the money then if you can't take a minute to respond saying "too low".
The best though, is when you have an ad posted and about 10 people call up, all saying 'I could get one cheaper than that in store or online someplace', to which I always respond 'well then, go buy one there, bye' and I hang up on them.

I'm sorry, but this isn't "The Price Is Right". Either you like my price or say 'it's too much', but don't give me that 'I can get it cheaper in store or online' and expect me to respond kindly.
That's a good asking price, I'd jump on it primarily b/c I want an Onyx DS, but I'm bent on grabbing an LE version of the DS.
LE version ???

I just get mad when I e-mail sellers asking questions about laptops. Like battery life, running hot, serial numbers, screen condition, etc. and they don't respond.

Saying something works perfectly and is mint just doesn't work for me. I am not going to spend 1500+ for something and not have all the information.

I've e-mailed this guy like every 5 days or so to make an offer on some GameCube games he has. I offered him $20 for Melee and Double Dash. While Nintendo might price those games higher, I ain't buying them at the $27 price a piece. If he truly wants to unload them then he'll get back to me as you can get them for $17 a piece in the BTGOF sale that EB is having with a warranty.
LOL I've found that MANY CL posters will stop responding if you ask too many questions about their items. Why, even I have when people ask me asinine shit that's posted for all to see IN the ad.

Excuse me, but I'm not gonna slip up n say it's cheaper than posted or anything, so either you agree with the price or have a nice life.

If my ad says FIRM, it means 'NO HAGGLING', but people still try. I gotta give them that.
CL is like a big swap meet...people expect to haggle the price down. Whatever you want to get for it, add 10-15% more to the price. Then they will 'talk you down' to the price you want. I always do and it works fine. Prices are never really 'firm' as you are not a retail store, and people on CL know that.

If you get people calling up saying its too high and its cheaper here, then you are probably asking too much. Its like the people that think $55 is a good price for a used copy of Crackdown because thats what EB sells it for used. Or people who think their Xbox system with 3 sports games should be worth $150.

I hardly think an Xbox with sports games is worth anywhere NEAR $150. However, I've put a couple computers and my NIB GC up on CL in my area and have had 3 calls on the older computer(priced it at like $300ish) and maybe 2 on the newer computer that didn't seem like complete jokes.

And, I've received the requisite 'I can get it cheaper here or there' responses, to which I DO reply rudely. Excuse me, but if you know this, then WHY bother me about it?

I super overpriced a newer computer I got from a web deal from Dell, just to see how many low ballers I'd get. I thought I had someone interested the last time I got a response, but they stopped responding after I answered every question(even the most asinine) in full detail.

Of course, I've had the typical CL scammers say they'll send me X amount and they're from like California or something, so I put a 30-40 mile radius from my house limit on my ads now too.

I also said I'd tack on a handling/shipping charge if they're from OUT of the area, but still want the computer. I had someone from outside that range call about it, but again, lots of questions answered, but no real bite.

I don't really expect to make the full retail new cost of my older computer back, but I'm not about to give it away for $100 to the first shmoe, that's for sure.

As for the newer one, I only put it on to see what kinda scammers and lowballers I'd get. I just laugh at each one, as they get more and more ridiculous with each email response.

Ahhh well, I may try and cancel the ads in the next week, since it's a waste of time.

This one lady wanted $10 a pop for some low end Gamecube games she had. I ended up getting 24 of them for about $5.50 a piece. I only bought them at that price too because they have high trade-ins and with the Edge card and 30% markup I can a lot more trade-in value.

Got a chuckle out of this one... 350... are you kidding
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I was only able to get $50 out of my GC
LE version ???
Oh yea, there's a couple LE's, like the FFIII and FFXII Revenant Wings versions. They have custom art on the top part of the DS.

I have my eye on a certain one

One thing I never do is put my phone number in a listing. I do communication e-mail only. I shit you not I have gotten calls from would be buyers at 3 or 4 in the fucking morning. Who honestly thinks that is a good time to call.
this one is even better: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ele/298708341.html

It's still not as good as the people tht have the "Brand new nintendo Wii with 5 games!" The 5 games being the Wii sports games.
What was the link to? It looks like it was deleted by Craiglist.

As for your comment, I hate when people do that. People on eBay are guilty of doing that too. Some will list a Wii with 14 games + extra controller when it's really just the Wii, Wii Sports, and Wii Play.

I was ready to reverse look up the number and go set off fireworks in someones front yard at 3am and see how they being disturbed.

Use privatephone.com or grandcentral.com. I got a grandcentral number just to forward to my privatephone number. Then it won't matter when people call you since your real phone won't ring, but at least they'd still be able to leave you messages.

DUDE, grandcentral rocks! I just signed up!!!
It could be justified if the games the person is selling are rarities like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Dragon Force.
yeah true i thought about that but if they had rare games like that why not say it.

 I like the end of the article.

"This is no spam i'm a real person that's selling this device. No need to be shy or embarrased. We are all grown"

Yes, we're all grown, just not as much as they'd like to be.
Doesn't get any better than this....a USED penis extender!

What irks me is the boneheads who put $1 in the title... they say well I have to fill the slot make me an offer lol so they get mad when you say $1

LOL I sent a response like that once Derrick, to someone wanting to sell their PS2 and 20 games, the ad said make an offer, but the title had the $1 in it. I guess they didn't like that I asked for it at their title price of $1.
I love when people say 'rare.' It's almost a given they don't know what that means.
Whenever a value-ignorant person hawks their crap on Craig's List/eBay, suddenly every game becomes HTF OOP RARE! I saw Madden 05 Collector's Edition as Rare, though I've seen more of those in stores than traditional Madden 05.

I had some guy get mad at me by saying all his games on his list were old and under $20... he had a fat PS2 with 21 games and most were 05 and under sports titles..

He ranted about how he paid X ammount of dollars for the stuff new and there is no way it's that cheap..
So being the nice guy I was I took his entire list and made links to every game he had they sold used at ebgames..
He took it pretty bad when I exposed his old sports titles selling used for under $5 lol..

The biggest problem with craigslist are when you get guys who DO price their shit reasonably, the ebayers who check it every 5 minutes snap it up. I found a guy selling a small lot of PS1 games for $3 a piece, including VH and VH2, and FF8/FF9 for $5 a piece, and so on, and I emailed him 1 hour after he listed it, but by the time he got back to me someone had already agreed to buy everything he had.

People in my area are slow to buy and slow to respond to emails you send them.. I sold my Wii fast but thats due to the demand but I have had my DS on there for over 2 weeks now and keep changing prices but no buyers. Just people every once in awhile trying to lowball me..

Possibly one of my favorites. Especially when it refers to a NES.

Meanwhile, at least one is listed nearly every day.

There was one within the last couple weeks for I believe just the NES console, and the seller was emphasizing how incredibly rare it was.

Only 1 in 8 American households had a NES....

This guy must be planning to retire by selling old game systems.

He must have been a comic book dealer in a past life.

It's hard to resist emailing someone like this and making fun of them. And then they'll wonder why these items don't sell. This happens to be the second or third time these systems have been listed on craigslist.
$400 for that Intellivision lot? Yyyyyyyeah..... nooo...
Someone on the Philly CL had an Intellivision lot for sale with Donkey Kong and other games for $45, but I'm about 2 hours from Philly and have no spare cash to buy up some gaming stuff this week. So, it'll go to some hoarder/Ebayer I'm sure.

There were actually a couple reasonable priced lots on CL from Philly, but again, 2 hours drive to maybe find out they 'sold it an hour ago to someone local' would not make me a happy camper.
