The Borders deals are pretty good, I stocked up. Surprised there isn't more discussion on this. I'd been trying to get Children of Men cheap and I think $10 is about as cheap as its going to get. . .
Thanks! Picked up both Grinch and American Gangster from Borders.com plus free shipping!!!
How did you get free shipping with just two movies?

It kills me how stores will raise the prices on things once they start selling again, not realizing they're only selling because of the low price.

It's supply and demand, usually, but it's hysterical when it happens on a dead product, like HD-DVDs (hey, I love the format and have tons of them, but they're dead! ;) )... I guess they're hoping people will be dumb enough to hear "Hey, big HD-DVD sale at Best Buy!" and then just buy stuff for MSRP not realising the sale is over.

Supply and demand doesn't work if the products are only selling because they are cheap, which i would assume is true for this.

Dang. I get here late and miss BB's sale, and it looks like borders sale isn't really much either. Only movie I really want is Children of Men, but I don't have a Border's near me, and shipping makes it $12.97. Deepdiscount has it for $11.98. And I'm not sure I even want it that badly. $10 is normally my limit for HD-DVD so if there was FS+no tax I would bite. I'll have to sleep on the DD.

It's an amazing HD-DVD. Well worth $12.

Definitely one of the must own movies on HD-dvd.

Well, I do love the movie, but I just am worried it will get a re-release on Blu-Ray with more special features. I am surprised there hasn't been a double dip yet. It just didn't seem like it received the proper treatment it deserved. Of course a BD of it is going to run $25 at least, and that would last for quit a while. I'm sold. :D

I bought it for $30 and thought it was worth it...

Please go read an econ textbook. Supply and Demand works for everything. When price goes down, demand goes up.

I'm not saying it hasn't happen yet, but I have yet to see a title re-released on Blu-Ray that has something extra that wasn't on the original HD DVD release. Hell, they even use the same video and audio codecs.

A good site to find out what's on a release is http://www.highdefdigest.com/.

It is kind of disappointing that many of these HD-DVD clearances are curbed, once the seller realizes that there is still some demand. It happened with that iNetVideo clearance, as well. After a few days, they jacked many of the prices back up. You really can't blame, though. It's just good business.

Indeed. And as time passes, the studios are going to have less and less incentive to do otherwise. The market is just going to grow, and they will be less concerned with getting people to double-dip.

Well, if Children of Men received a rerelease on DVD, a BD would probably follow. But I don't really know when they would rerelease the DVD, since it's been so long.
