Most expensive game you have ever bought.
I did the exact same thing. I kept all the extras plus the tin and traded just the game into EB.
Hell yeah. The tin rocks..one day I'll re-buy the game.

Same exact rationalization I had.

I think I paid 70 bucks for the UK Version of Shenmue 2. It was at gamestop of all places. One some DC message board a GS employee said how it was is in their system for pre-order. I piad my 70 bucks a about a month later I got a call to pick it up. It was worth it since I didn't have to pay shipping and I had no plans to buy an xbox at the time.

I paid $70 each for FFIII and Chrono Trigger. Don't regret either for a second.
My dad bought me TMNT II and Super Mario Bros. 3, both at/near release, and I'm pretty sure those were at least $70. Despite their lack of value now, those two were probably even better purchases.

$100 for Steel Battalion back when it was marked down at Media Play.
Spent about $72 for Chrono Trigger.
Paid around $75 to get X-Men vs. Street Fighter import for the Saturn along with a 5-in-1 cart to play imports.
Also paid $65 for The King of Fighters 2002 import for DC right when it came out.

Zelda OoT was the most expensive game I personally bought. I think it was $70 though might have been $80, such a long time ago and I paid with all ones cause I saved up extra lunch money to buy it. The next game I'll pay a lot for will probably be the Beatmania when it comes stateside. I'd imagine it would be at least $70.

I think 85$ for Breath of Fire 2 when it came out on SNES, or something along those lines for Lufia 2, then that evil hl2 collectors edition at 80$.

One of the few lucky deals I had when I was young:

I found BOF 2 at a movie rental store for $40. Finished it and sold it two months later to a Funcoland for $40. :)

I got Lufia II at Target for $20. 1UP
$79.99 for Chrono Trigger at Funcoland at launch when I was but a wee tyke. And I cried when I couldn't find it at first.
I think Chrono set me back $69.99 at Best Buy.

You had BB stores back in 1995?

BB didn't start arriving on the left coast until about 2000.

I think I paid around the same price ($70) for Chrono Trigger at EB.

I had BB ever since I can remember... That'd be about 12 years.

Half-Life 2 Silver $60.00

(I got silver because it had the entire backlog of games, and I gave my old steam account which already had those games to a freind so we could play multiplayer)
54.99 on Halo 2... Ive regretted it ever since... Im never buying a hyped up game ever again.
This is LE Halo 2, right?

I'm not buying into hype or getting LE's ever again (at launch at least)... LE Halo 2 can be had for $20-30 now. I regret getting LE Jade Empire at launch since LE copies can still be found for $20-30.

Guess these games weren't so "limited" after all.

54.99 for le halo 2. I would spend the extra 5 anytime for a limited edition. I didnt however shell out the extra 10 for doom 3 (i traded soon after i beat it anyway)

You know those local toy stores that sell new releases this gen for 59.99?
My cousin took me to one because it was closer than any other stores and he wanted to buy me a gift quickly--- he bought me
Metal Gear Solid 2
18- Wheeler
Triple Play Baseball.

I'm ashamed
$80 total for SC2 import on GCN and a freeloader to play it.
i paid fifty for the same deal, and i feel like i overpaid by about 35 dollars heh.

i think i paid a ton for dragon warrior 3(like $55) but this was 20 years ago and i had no idea where to find deals, i would call all the stores and they all said "$55" so i went ahead and got it.

120 bucks (of my money, not my parents) on two release n64 games, if i remember right it was mario 64 and ocarina of time.

Wow, I don't ever remember games being as expensive as you guys do.

My NES games were usually around $40 I believe, and that was for the brand new ones, most NES games I bought were used, and there's only a few select cases where I remember a game going over $50.

$79 for the Battle Arena Toshinden 2 PSX import...

yeah... I know

Oh, just remembered, $100 for the Sega Art of Fighting import. Man, that was loooong ago!!! ;)

$60 for RE4:CE(worth it kinda)
$50 for shenmue 2 b4 CAG
$50 for Enter the Matrix b4 CAG
$43 for Halo 2 LE(disappointed since its not limited at all)

now the most i'll spend for a new release game i really want is $30-$35, unless its Zelda(which deserves the $50)

thinking about:
Bust a move 3000 gcn for $50

Well given that ocarina of time wasn't a release game that would be difficult.
Well given that ocarina of time wasn't a release game that would be difficult.
Yeah. N64 released with Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64.
Like $62.30 for Madden 05: Collectors Edition. I was gonna buy it off DDD for cheaper, but shipping took too long.
Can't you get that for like $20 now? :p

If you count the almost required controller to use the game then it was Pop N Music 8 for PS2 for $64.99 plus the $59.99 controller.
Again, I ask. How is this general gaming or industry news?
If not here... where would it be posted? Off Topic? I think this is rather on topic with "General Gaming"... don't you?
