I don't think that Fantastic Four set is S1, i believe its the entire series of cartoons (which may have only been one season, but its the entire series in the box)

Yeah amazon.com says it is the whole series, which is apparently two seasons. This is the series from the 90's, btw.

Thanks for the early listing. Looks like I'll be stopping by Circuit City. A lot of those are 4.88 at Walmart but that place is such a hassle and who knows if they actually still have them. I've got my eyes on:
Poltergeist
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Negotiator
Devil's Advocate

Thanks as usual TSD, always awesome to have them this early on. :applause:

CC looks pretty good this week. Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction and Pirates are a steal at $10 apiece. I'm considering Blazing Saddles, Lawrence of Arabia (how do I not have this already??), StarMan and Liberty Valance. Can't get a straight answer on the Valance disc though, DVDbeaver says it's 1.83:1 non-anamorphic, and DO says 1.66:1 anamorphic, with other sites saying 1.85:1 anamorphic. Sheesh. :p

Any word on which editions of The Color Purple, Saving Private Ryan and Das Boot are on sale? Each one has 2 editions available, and I'm pretty sure the old Color Purple and Ryan discs are OOP.

For those of you looking at Dog Day Afternoon, Warner's planning a 2-disc of it later this year. I rented the current disc, and it's got no extras, but it's a decent anamorphic transfer, so it's worth it if you don't care for extras.

To answer your questions:

Color Purple is the single disc P&S edition. Saving Private Ryan is the 2 disc edition. Das Boot is the single disc theatrical version.

The Lawrence of Arabia is the single disc version with no extras. I would suggest if you want extras to get the 2 disc version - well worth it as the extras are nice. If you want the best picture then get the 2 disc Superbit version. Then again, I own both 2 disc versions as the Superbit has the best picture and the standard 2 disc for the extras. :applause:

Most of the reviews I've read for it state 1.85:1 anamorphic. I'd go with that.
Fantastic Four gets a boxset but no to X-men, Spider-Man, Hulk even the fucking Silver Surfer.
lol I have been waiting forever for them to release the X-men Animated series. Hopefully when X-Men 3 the movie comes out they will begin to release it.

Ah, thanks for the info. I rented the 2-disc SE a while back, so I've already seen the extras. My TV is only 30 inches, so having Superbit isn't that big a deal for me, either, so the single-disc would be just fine by me. Plus I'm lazy, so not having to swap discs ain't half bad either.

Actually you'll be in for a SHOCK to see the Superbit is far better in this case because of the fact that a newer remaster was done after the original 2 disc (and 1 disc barebones for that matter) was done.

Read this for a better idea of what the differences are.

To me the colors - especially things like flesh tones and shading - looks more natural and easy on my eyes on the Superbit than the LE/1 disc version does. If you do want the best version then yes it is worth the extra money for the Superbit. However the 1 disc is good enough if you don't mind a slightly inferior picture.

I was trying to avoid looking at the 'Beaver, hoping that the 1-disc would be good enough. You're right though, the color is far better on the Superbit, and the cropping on the other versions would bother the hell out of me as well. Chalk up another one for my DDD wishlist.

Holy grail is $5 at best buy right now - the special edition is $15 but one of the coupons in the "DVD insider" magazine at the register (hopefully still available) takes $10 off.

If you're really brave, you could use this coupon at circuit city and see if you can get the movie for free... even if they are the same edition that shouldn't be possible.

So Holy Grail SE is still $15 at BB. I thought it went up in price. That's awesome. Also, if you guys need the DVD Insider that BB had (mine through them away after the first week even though they said the had 50 left those bastards) you can find it on their website in PDF format that can be printed. :D

Just to make sure you know, there was a misprint on the coupon. It is actually supposed to take $10 off the collector's edition, and it will only take $3 off the special edition.
Thanks for the prices, TSD.
Nothing I wanna get... heh gotta save money for the CC clearance :whistle2:D.

They've been manually correcting them though because they have to honor what the coupon says. The item number listed on the coupon is the $14.99 SE so you should get $10 off of it.
