Saw Uncut Edition
Wow, a big week.

Definitely going for the two new Disneys, to beef up my collection. The Tarzan one is better than the previous edition, and while the Emperor's New Groove seems to be a step down in terms of extras, it'll be so cheap that I won't mind.
I've got both of the original, 2-disc releases. Can you point me to a comparison to the new discs?
I've got both of the original, 2-disc releases. Can you point me to a comparison to the new discs?
I mostly pieced it together from specs on dvdanswers.com and ultimatedisney.com.

Ultimate Disney says that the new Tarzan has all the features of the original 2-disc and more, and I'm assuming that advances in technology over the past 6 years allow for the movie to look a little better. DVDAnswers has a full spec list and art.

Here's a list of specs for the new Groove disc. It's only a single disc, so it won't have anywhere near the amount of extras, so it might be best to hang on to that 2-discer. But, like I said, advances in technology, yadda yadda, it might look even better, but nobody knows at this point.

I don't own either, so the price is nice enough that I'll indulge next week.

TSD... working on his birthday to post the ads... gotta love the guy. :)

Looks like Best Buy has the best prices that week for the stuff that I'm interested in:

Mr. Show Complete Collection? Hmm... didn't know this was coming out. I only have the first set, but I could sell that... $55.99 is a pretty good price. Shit, Amazon has this at $101.

He-Man Season 1, Volume 1 is $24.99?! That's a fucking steal!

Kinda mad that no one had a better price than $22.99 for Batman Begins Deluxe, but I was expecting it. This is the same pricing they had with Constantine and Constantine Deluxe. Wonder what the exclusive box art is... maybe Batman with the Best Buy logo on his chest or something?

No one had any prices for The Big Lebowski Gift Set (was it cancelled? If so, I'll just grab the $12.99 DVD. Then again, I'm not sure whether to get the gift set anyway...) or the Ultimate Bruce Lee Collection. Unfortunately, that usually means they'll be expensive. Oh, well...

Thanks for the prices, TSD!

Mr.Show complete collection for $55.99...not too bad considering there usually $25.00 or more a piece. But since each season only has 10 epioses.....I seem to feel ripped off. Why are all teh seasons so much/ Well than again the Aqua Teen dvds are just as much and they only have like 13 episodes. Hmmmmm...well if I win big at the casino this weekend, Ill pick up Mr. Show.

Those 3 for $20 at BB, I actually saw those (and those titles mentioned) for that price last night. Are they on sale this week? I remember seeing Donnie Darko, Sandlot, Aliens, etc on a table...

And no price on Land of the Dead from BB? Blah...must not be a good deal anywhere for it.

I already 110% PM'd Smallville last week at BestBuy against Target. I wonder if it'd be too weird to pricematch my pricematch (it is possible). Though not a fan of horror, I was enamored by Saw. I'll probably pick it up and wind up seeing the sequel w/ the free ticket despite the bad feeling I have after seeing the previews.

man special best buy box art for batman begins? for that price they should offer a batman toy or some shit looks like im going for amazon.

Anyone know if amazon is gonna offer free shipping soon??
Saw: Uncut Edition? What a conveniently relevant name, and without having to make some other contrived descriptor at that. Maybe if they put back in any of Cary Elwes' good acting (what the hell happened to him?!), I'll double-dip on this one. I'm not liking what I've seen of Saw II, though.
As you wish.

Does the uncut edition of Saw warrant another purchase? I really, really loved that movie. Like...really. And I can get a free movie ticket at BB...=]

I want the Chucky, Friday the 13th and Nightmare collections, but I think I'll wait 'til I find a sale or it gets near Xmas.

Yeah. I really want the Toy Story DVD too. =\

I think that the uncut version is only about 8 seconds longer than the U.S. verion. But if you really like the movie, pick this one up. Sell your other one, or keep both to be a completist. Like you said, there's a free movie ticket, too.

I definitely recommend the Nightmare and Friday the 13th collections, especially the Nightmare set. It's only $40 or less now, and comes with a great disc of extras.

I need to buy the Toy Story DVD, too.

Taken from Amazon, about Saw Uncut:

" The Uncut Edition differs only slightly from the theatrical release; it reinserts a little more gore that was cut to get an R rating and tightens up the editing (the uncut version is actually a teensy bit shorter than the theatrical release). The extras are plentiful (if a bit thin)"

"Two audio commentaries (one by director James Wan, screenwriter/actor Leigh Whannel, and Elwes), one by the producers--thankfully, no one takes themselves too seriously. Also included are a trio of typically self-congratulatory making-of featurettes ("He was amazing to work with" etc.), an animated storyboard of a sequence they couldn't afford to shoot, a DVD-ROM game in which you can construct your own puppet, a couple of self-mocking Easter Eggs, and lots of promotional stuff for Saw II. "

"Most fans will find the regular DVD release satisfactory; this special edition is largely for hardcore enthusiast"

Shit, I hope regular Saw goes back on sale for $10 one of these days, now I feel stupid for passing it up.

Nevermind, Circuit City has Saw at 9.99 on their website, I think I'm just going to save a few bucks and grab the regular version... no use for the movie ticket.

I think I'll get this just for the ticket, and for the satisfaction of knowing I own the Uncut and regular edition both. =D
Does some know what the special best buy box art for batman begins looks like?
anyone?

Hm, nice week...will probably get the Nightmare Collection for that price.

Masters of The Universe S1 for 22 bucks (with McDonald's BB money) is calling my name.
Thanks, you didn't have to be a ass about it! I looked earier and typed batman , but it had no mention of the exclusive cover...
I wasn't being an ass, I was joking. You take me far too seriously.
are you sure thats the BB only cover?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ce&n=130&s=dvd&v=glance&tagActionCode=dvdtalk

amazon.com has the same cover for the deluxe edtion
You may be right. I saw that cover in BB's flyer this afternoon and didn't see any other pics of it in the other flyers, so who knows. But it probably isn't worth the money for the cover art anyways.

Sorry, my bad..
It is a lenticular cover, a 3d type deal.
Today's the day, fellas. Hope someone will be able to post whether the cover is worth it or not.

Like many of you, I'm weighing the special cover against the lithograph at CC. Both aren't exactly cool bonuses, so I'm wondering whether the lithography will be worth the drive. If not, then it's lenticular time.

Picked it up from Best Buy, and it's only a single-disc "Special Edition" now. Only a commentary, a deleted scene and some shitty games on it. I noticed when I was walking back to my car that the spine didn't say "2-Disc Special Edition" like it did on DVDAnswers. Sure enough, when I popped it open in the car, only a single disc.

I'm keeping it, because it's cheap enough, but still a terrible move by Disney.

fuck the 3D craptastic cover, I'm getting the lithograph.

anyone confirmed that walmart ISN'T selling it for 15.87? that's the price they have on their website for the deluxe edition, so it should be similar in store or no?

I'll be heading to Target later to try and find TS:FP for $20, I'll check Wal-mart and get my 110% back from CC if so.

My Walmart was 24.92, so in this case, CC was the best B&M deal.

And no TS:FP, either. What a waste of a trip.
