Movie players

Has anyone tried the GBA/DS movie players that are available. The one that you throw a SD card in? Any advice on whether it would be worth it, would work with a 2gb card and what format the movies need to be in (I run linux so I dont want to use their software) would be appreciated.
 
I think if you buy one of the movie players, you have to use their software to encode the video. However, if you buy something like the Supercard SD, you can use avi files. Plus it has... other uses. ;)
 
Movies are iffy on the DS. They look ok...nothing great. There are obviously better things to do with a SD card in a DS/GBA though.
 
I forget but there is a porgram where you could convert a mpg movie and play it on the GBA and another program/cart that can play NES and Movies files.
