OK i tried to use ps3video9 and came to conclusion it was garbage, it doesn't have acurate estimate time saying 100% done but it isn't, and it is VERY slow at converting. Are there any programs to configure a video file into ps3 format to store and watch?

I would like to know. I just downloaded PS3video9 but haven't had a chance to use it yet. If it is as bad as you say, I'll be needing a new program to use.

If that's Vidora or whatever it's called, I've used that for my PSP, my iPod, and my Tivo, and it works pretty great, especially for free (it's kind of a front end for FFMPEG I think).

Although...what's the point with the PS3? Just stick the disc in.

I used this to convert a bittorrented HD season 1 of Rome and transferred it over to my PS3 to play on the big screen. Took about 20 minutes per episode on my aging AMD 3200 processor. Worked perfectly.

i briefly played around with the ps3's multimedia capabilities yesterday...

it played mpeg's fine..... then again i didnt have to many videos in mpeg.. im guessing it also plays the same video files as psp (mp4)..
i was cool as well to just copy files to hd

encoding is too much of a hassle,... im knda spoiled with streaming video with 360...

is there any way to do that on ps3?

Your right ps3video is garbage.
I would just wait until march when hopefully more video formats will be supported via firmware.
If not then i'll start worrying about having to convert crap.

This is one thing that pisses me off about the ps3.
the newest gaming console doesnt even support .avi format...

The 360 supports even less, so it's not exactly surprising. The PS3 at least supports more stuff that's closer to being an open standard.

Hmmm. I use PS3 Video 9 and it works fast for me. My HD is full of movies I ripped and converted. I use the MPEG2-PS setting because it hasn't given my any trouble. Some of the other formats weren't converting right all the way through.

he following types of files can be played under
