So I'm going to my GF's parents house in a bit and I want to take my 360. Has anyone had any bad experiences moving it? I'm so scared something will happen, haha. I plan on taking it in the original 360 box it came in, i'll bundle the wires and everything else in a seperate bag.. but has anyone else had any bad experiences taking it to a friends house or anything?

I realize it's a bit comical to ask if it's okay to move it, but still.. better safe than sorry, right?

Hey Scorch I brought my 360 downstairs to a friends apartment and I had a problem with the powersupply. THe powersupply needs to be close to the plug outlet as possible, don't stretch it too far otherwise it may cause problems. I had the red light of doom because I stretched it too far, and eversince I refuse to bring down the system downthere without an extension cord. Otherwise just stick to the general stuff, like not laying your system vertical unless you must. Etc.

I don't have any bad experiences to tell you, but don't worry about it, I can assure you that you should be fine.

I have moved my 360 many many times already, going back and forth between my dorm, my parent's house, and a couple of other friend's dorms. I just stick the console and the accessories in a backpack. Simple as that.

I'd say that putting it in the original box is a very good idea. Like any other elecronic equipment, jus' don't drop it.

That reminds me, there was this time when I brought my Gamecube to a friends house without putting it a bag of some sort, and on the way out I accidently dropped it on the cement walkway. The system still worked, but there was a nasty scratch mark on the top of the lid. Freaked me out for a moment there.

From that moment on, I learned to always put the consoles in a bag and not to carry it around all bare. The scar on the lid will always remind me of that. :(

There's a video online of a truck either driving over a GameCube or dragging one across the road... or both. Anyway, it still worked after the beating.

Nintendo makes some durable shit.

Good to hear, but I think the controllers will stay out. Last time I put the XBox (one) controller in a backpack, it had connection problems from then on out, some wire got stretched or something.. love these wireless controllers though.

For you guys that moved it.. I lay my 360 flat. Do you think it'd be okay to stick it on top of the 360 box? Would that be enough ventilation? I've never worried about ventiliation because it's on a wire shelf, so there's air all around it, but this time it'd be on carpet.

I can't wait, I play on a 19 inch flatscreen TV, they have a 50something inch HDTV

I move it a lot between my dorm and my parents house. I use the Gpack 360, which holds the system, power supply and cords nicely.

As other people said, you should be fine, just dont drop it ;-)

And with controllers, I would just put them in a seperate bag.

i took my 360 to new jersey and back on an airplane, nothing happened when i got back... (though yesterday morning it died on me) but i came back from New Jersey December 27th...

Same with their Game boy systems. EGM did all sorts of tests on one of the Game boys including flushing it in the toilet and it still worked like a charm. Nintendo makes quality stuff unlike Sony.

I brought it over my friends house yesterday, which is 40+ minutes away so I had to pack it up. I just put my 360 in my backpack, and kept all the cords in a seperate store bag/grocery bag. Worked fine. :)

Yeah. I had a friend whose sister dropped his classic GameBoy in the toilet... and it still worked. Amazing.

And, yeah; Sony makes some disposable hardware. All of my friends who've owned a PS1 and PS2 have all had problems with them mysteriously breaking if you merely look at them wrong.

I know this is late but DO NOT PUT YOUR 360 ON THE CARPET!!!! You will suffocate it and burn it up quick, fast, and in a hurry!

Good luck, man. Once you go Widescreen HDTV, you'll never want to go back... same with jumping from TV sound to 5.1 goodness.

You should be fine moving the 360. To play it safe, make sure you take out any disc in the drive. Also, like daphatty said... no carpet. Put it on a hard surface with plenty of ventilation.

No problems getting it out there. Looks great on a big screen TV, though I used the default plugs. I tried the HD plugs or something but the audio wouldn't work and the video was coming up in black and white.. I didn't want to fool with it so I just unhooked it. So the quality, while it could've been HD if I figured that out, was okay. Just like a normal TV, only.. bigger.

Came home, gf wanted to play some hexic, go to hook it up, power it on (I usually just hit the eject tray to turn it on) and bam, red circle's flashing. I panic. GF thinks i'm crazy. I start muttering incoherently about how i'm a dumbass for moving it, I start panicing because I don't want to fool with sending it back..

..then I noticed that the a/v cables weren't plugged in. Turned off the system, plugged those in, restarted, worked fine. Thank God.

Ha. I'm sure she was thinking it.
Did you move the switch to HDTV?
ditto... you need to slide the small switch on the a/v cable to HDTV :)
