I had friends who bought the console primarily because they loved 1 vs. 100. Whoever made the decision to cancel it can go die in a fire.

Microsoft confirmed today that there will be no third season for their Xbox 360 version of 1 Vs. 100 and that the game won't be returning.

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept," said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. "We're very proud of the ‘1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

During the beta season more than 114,000 people played the game on Xbox Live simultaneously.

According to Microsoft the 1 Vs. 100 team is now "focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop "1 vs 100" to new projects that will be unveiled in the future."

Let's hope that Microsoft is more supportive of those projects then they apparently were of this one.

That sucks. I played it a bunch during the first season. I didn't get to play it a lot during the second season though. I was just wondering the other day when it would be back because I want to play it again. :(

1 vs 100 was the only reason that I even got a gold membership, and it honestly brought me and my friends from around the country together to play all of the actual live gameshows.

This will probably save me $50 a year now, but it's pretty damned depressing. On the bright side, at least I will always have 100% of the achievements.

What's even more asinine is MS making this big push to appeal to the family this year, then they kill off the one thing that really DID appeal to everyone, far more than some stupid fucking doomed-to-fail motion controller that costs as much as the system itself.

If they are going to replace this with some non-licensed "game show," they'd better make the announcement ASAP. This is a major blow to the supposed "value" of a gold membership.

I predict "You Don't Know Jack" with be one of the new projects.

If I hadn't been involved with all the other multi-player games from last year, I certainly would have been playing more 1 vs. 100. So fun.

They need to announce the replacement before the internet starts rioting in the streets. Unless it is some sort of licensing issue, this move makes no sense.

This. I would play with my wife and her daughter at virtually every live show. Even got an account for the wife so she could keep her own stats.

Sony starts their online network and gives away free games with it. At the same time, Microsoft pulls the one free "game" it offered on XBL. Ironic.

I love XBL, but Microsoft should be adding more value to the service, not taking value away.

I somehow doubt that this game made Microsoft much money. The ad dollars were the only revenue (purchased XBL subscriptions would be difficult to measure) and Spint can't fund everything cool on XBL. (see "The Guild")

I'd pay up to 400 points for this game if that is what it took.

The first season was actually more fun because you didn't have to be on the damn game 24/7 boosting up on the leaderboards.

Me and my friends were all the one and in the mob the first season but the second season was just a ton of no lifers.

Well it was fun while I lasted even if I never won or got into the mob. I noticed that a lot of people joined Live just to play that.

hey! i made it in the one, and mob this past december/january, but i was at home for 2 months recovering from surgery.

fucking lame, 2 of my friends got Xbox's around the time Season 2 ended and we were hoping to play together when Season 3 started but looks like that will never happen.

NO!!!!!!!! I had so much fun playing this game with my friends plus my fiance loved playing this too. Countless times we'd all play together hoping we'd get in the mob or we'd be the one but never did. It was still loads of fun though.

::sadness ensues::
Best casual game they made.
 Ironic that the one family/casual game they succeeded at, they cancel.

This was the best thing they had done for Xbox Live this generation for me, so it's sad to see it go. Though with Game Room and Destination Arcade, they're making some odd decisions about how to support these "next big thing" features.

Sad to see it go. Made it into the Mob 3 times, won twice, had fun almost every single time! Only regret was that I was never the One. Would have loved a chance at the 10,000 MS Points (Although I would have walked away at 5,000).

BTW the amount of hate happening on the 1 vs 100 Live facebook page is interesting.

this...

it makes no sense to me, i personally would pay something (not $150/kinect price, but I'd still pay), for this rather than kinect.

i guess the way they see it is they can take the people that worked on 1vs100 and have them make some $60 game for Kinect.... smh.

Throw me in with the group that bought Gold memberships specifically for this abortion.

Thanks for letting us beta test this, then never truly benefit, Microsoft. At least I finished a few (non-Live) games in first place and got into the Mob *ONE* time.

I think I only got into the Mob once, but I didn't play it hardcore like some people. I had fun each time I played, though.

I enjoyed this game, my girlfriend bought her own 360 because of this game, and A Patch of Blue is crying in a corner somewhere because 1 vs. 100 is no more.

Wife and I loved this.. it was something we could play together and unwind. She's pretty pissed.

Sad news indeed. I made it into the mob once and won 400 MSP and the Maw. It was really a great game. Hopefully they'll apply the concept to some new games in development like they said they're doing.

Lame. I never got to play the real one, but I played the beta and would have won a ton of prizes if they were actually giving them away at that time. I bought Live specifically for it.
This is awful and I hate this news, did Sprint drop out or something?
No, the show got canceled. It makes sense; why would you want to work on a project based on a dead TV show?

Very disappointing. I even had my parents playing this at some point. I doubt they'll be playing kinect though.
fuck you Microsoft, how will I (legitimately) get 200 gs now?
Its sad, but my first thought was: Thank God I got my 200 pts!

I'm very disappointed in Microsoft over this decision. It was great interactive fun, and didn't suffer the same racism/bigotry that other XBL venues are marred by.

Hopefully whatever else they have planned is just as good.

Didn't think this was the big stuff coming to Xbox Live after they got rid of Live for original Xbox games. Really had some fun playing this game. Was able to play a few live games and liked it.

For some reason, I was under the impression months ago that if they did a season 3, there would have been a new line of achievements.

Saw the news about this last night. Really sucks. My husband and I were dating last year when the show ran, and it seemed we could never catch it. We were really looking forward to playing it together in our own home this fall.

I believe that was the case - every season would have a new 200 points to get (which is why I kept playing until I had my 200 from this past season).

I concur. It was a nice breath of fresh air when compared to the MW's and Halo's.

I hate that they did this, but I personally LOVED You Don't Know Jack back in the day! I'm not sure how well a game like that would work compared to 1 vs. 100 though. That game was made for a huge Live audience. It's sad to see it go.

Apparently it just wasn't cost-effective to keep running. Better they break our hearts now than file for divorce later I guess. :'

I imagine it will be an 800-point Live game, where you can only play with 3 other people at a time (like Uno). We'll see, though. I used to play the shit outta that game on the pc.

I played 1v100 with my wife, my mom, my in-laws. It was great over the holidays. Sad Microsoft apparently didn't see the value in it or couldn't eat what were probably small losses to keep it going. Hell, you don't really even need the live game (sorry Chris Cashman).
