MS Points refund at all possible?

OrngRubberDucky

CAGiversary!
Long story short, I managed to buy the new Fallout dl content on accindent. Has anyone else mistakenly bought something and was able to get their points back from MS? If so how did you do it?

No.

And how do you "accidentally" buy something?

"Ooops my finger slipped and accidentally hit 'confirm purchase'."

Actually you can get refunded. I downloaded a movie from the marketplace that was supposed to be free and ended up getting a refund for the points I was charged.

Yes you can accidently do it. Heres the long story/explanation. I was going to play rock band and use the drums. Anyone who has played knows you can use yellow and blue for up and down. Well I thought I was going UP and "A"/accept. Well it ended up being Buy Now and aceept. At first I was thinking, ok we're good there is at least 3 steps to purchase stuff. But nope you can do it in 2. Apparently I found out the hard way and am royaly screw. Needless to say I dont think I'll try and rush into a game ever again.

So how did you get all the way to Fallout 3 content using Rock Band drums without realizing you were doing something wrong?

No it does not.

I was not on the My Xbox section. I was on the Highlights or whatever area (what do they call them now since they're not blades??). Anyways, when I start up my 360 it goes there instead of on the My Xbox section. Which is why I was trying to go Up and accept.

Wow it takes 45-60 seconds for a download screen to appear for me since the NXE .
I have no idea how this could happen, especially now .

Nope.

My Xbox froze up in the dashboard and while pushing buttons to get out it bought something. Support didn't care.

Had a similiar issue New Mythic Maps and Bungie Pro, when I went to download my "free" Bungie Pro from Marketplace it switched to 750ms pts as I confirmed. I called and asked why would I pay for something that I was suppossed to get free with new maps?! Not only would they not refund any points, they wouldn't even give me a code for another an arcade game instead. So, good luck to you sir but I doubt you'll get anywhere.

Well that's completely your fault because you automatically get bungie pro until July when you download the map pack...

Well those sound like nails in the coffin for sure.

I thought about it some and I feel sorry for gamers with kids. My friend has a kid and he's always grabbing the controllers when you dont realize. He's able to turn my 360 on and press random buttons.

I've nearly done that with Rock Band 2 drums as well. If your Xbox is not connected to the internet, it will automatically go to the My Xbox screen and you can immediately launch your game from there.

Tried this on my ex girlfriend "But honey I just pressed buttons and it slipped in..." she didn't refund it either.

My not-yet-2 year old son bought a Lost episode, because the damn thing was on a "forced selection" design:
Lost was the very first auto-selection on startup, and each A button push advances you to buy the first episode, and doesn't require any other button to be pushed.
Heck, if a controller was malfunctioning, or had a weight on top of it it could easily happen.

Xbox support didn't give a crap, or even see the bind they are putting consumers in when they program the interface to auto-select the options that lead to accidental purchases.

I believe they deliberately design the interface to do this, and then stand behind their cowardly "no refunds" policy.

My kid bought Spongebob something or other for the XBLA one day (he's only four). I download demo's just to entertain him most of the time, so I didn't think anything of it except that this time I actually had points in my account and instead of him backing out he bought it since he can't read and I wasn't in the room at the moment. I figured since I'd now paid for it that he might as well play it, so I can get some achievements, but no go because he doesn't really like the game. So, to this day I still have 0 achievements for that crap.

Is there some sort of password protect that you could put on purchases? I thought there was, but when I looked I didn't see anything. I'm sure they do this sort of thing on purpose along with the "press A to purchase" or "press B to continue to arcade". They probably made a few grand off of this on a daily basis alone.

I don't believe there is a password protect for purchasing. The only thing is age restrictions.

I as well accidentally bought a gimped MS Paint community game, but at least it was only 200 MS points. I just wish I accidentally bought something decent though, rather than a way watered down drawing tool for the 360.
