Not sure if this belongs in this forum, but this is pretty exciting news, if you're a fan. The movie was released on DVD once before, but it was a very limited release, and hard to find after its initial release. Copies went on eBay for upwards of $100.

Now, though, it's been re-released. Looks like you can get it for $13.99 at Amazon (link) and $14.99 most other places.
I've had this pre-ordered for a while, beats paying crazy money for it on Ebay.
Ditto, I saw this announced on MST3Kinfo.com a couple months ago and pre-ordered on Amazon without even thinking. My brain knew exactly what to do.

I remember this and the Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy movie both coming out a week or so apart and going to see them both in the same afternoon with my GF. Don't think I've ever laughed so hard for so long in my life.

I may have to pick this up.

I also noticed that while searching Best Buy's site a month or so back, but I am glad I won't have to be paying those absurd ebay/amazon prices(not that I was going to do so anyway...).
Any extras this time? I have the original but I may cave and get another copy anyway.
From everything I've seen no extras that I know of. Maybe a trailer.

I read this would be another "barebones" DVD. I think the only addition over the original is anthropomorphic widescreen.

how much does the original dvd release go for? I pawned mine a week ago since i figured the value would plummit. Was I wrong and shouldve ebayed it? I believe I got 35 for it at the local used store.

... I think you meant anamorphic, unless you have fuzzy things in your head, heh.

Finally, I can buy this movie. I've only seen a bit of the series but I loved it. Hope they actually made more than ten copies this time. :p

Thanks for the link Kabukistar. I am definately grabbing this. Some of my favorites memories are of my and my uncle staying up till like 3 am for it to come on Comedy Central, it was awesome

There goes the "value" of my original DVD that I picked up for ten dollars new years ago. Even when I saw it going for insane prices on ebay I never had any plans on selling it, I really enjoy watching it form time to time.

I'll pick this up too. I remember watching this movie in a theater in St. Louis on opening day.

In case you all don't know. Many of the MST3K people are now selling audio files on rifftrax.com that you play along with DVDs ala audio commentary. I've bought a hand full of them and find they satisfy my MST needs (even though they aren't "MST").

I guess I should have been watching the Ebay prices on "rare" stuff a little closer. I've got the original in crappy non-anamorphic, now I didn't get anything from that one, and need to buy the anamorphic one I guess too.

the GF will sit through rifftrax but she doesn't like MST too much (she sites that the rifftrax movies are more watchable then the MST ones.. which is true)

i usually purchase 1 or 2 every few weeks when I find the dvds at the pawn shops and such..

don't forget cinamatictitanic.com where literally EVERYONE ELSE that did MST3K riffs bad movies.

i didn't know this was getting re-released i'm there.

I haven't tried the rifftrax yet, but do have the Cinematictitanic DVD unless another has since been released.

Also don't forget "The Film Crew" with former MST3kers Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett. There are 4 DVDs out and they were pretty good as well and have actual host segments of sorts though the host segments were generally not that funny. I bought all 4 as they came out and they promptly went on sale each time, heh.

Picked up my copy as soon as BB opened. Used the 10% coupon from the forum.

I've always loved MST3K. My wife has fallen in love with Riff Trax and can't watch a single movie without commenting it could use a RiffTrax. We just got done watching all the Film Crew's on Netflix and they were OK but I wasn't as pleased as RT or MST3K (I think the movies were just too boring for me I dunno).

Haven't tried Cinematictitanic yet because I perfer Mike to Joel (I know I know lay off - I love Joel too but Mike makes me laugh more for some reason) but I'd like to try them out.

You're not the only one. I prefer Mike's sense of humor over Joel's. He just makes me chuckle and laugh more.

The stoner crowd tends to back Joel. :)

They were both okay (maybe I prefer Mike more than Joel over all, but I do like the era more before Pearl and all of that - so that's more Joel's time than Mike's). But neither of the humans seemed really funny - it was the bots that made the best jokes. Never understood that, since I'm sure both Joel and Mike were writing for the bots, and vice versa.

I'm not really in either the Mike or the Joel camp. They are both funny in their own way.

I'm slightly more a Mike supporter, but there's some classic Joel eps.

Back on topic, my Amazon order turned up yesterday and boy this disc is as bare as bare bones can get, nice to have a 5.1 soundtrack though.

Hey, nice. I remember seeing the original release in the store once and then looking online and hating myself for not grabbing it since it was going for a ridiculous amount of money on ebay. I'll order this next time I need stuff from Amazon.

I also generally prefer Mike's stuff to Joel's but I don't really feel strongly enough about it to take a side. On a related note, the "Over the Top" Rifftrax is one of the funniest things I've heard in the last several years.
