Now, I think this is my first (or possibly 2nd or 3rd) post ever hear on CAG, even though I've been here for what feels like a while, but in just 20 minutes, you Starman, had made me lose any amount of respect for you that I might have otherwise had. Some of you people need to learn how to write. Michael Moore tells it like it is. The truth hurts, that's why people hate him. Sure he makes money, they all do (Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity, ECT). Criticizing American politics and politicians does not make you un-American. If John Kerry becomes the next President I’m pretty sure Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Sean Hannity will spend a lot of time criticizing him. Will you people then say “they hate America”? That said...The hatred towards Bush is, in the eyes of many, completely justified. There are a lot of Americans that feel that the war in Iraq was completely unneeded, and not just because we're "getting oil" over there. The economy has dropped like a rock during the past four years. Hell, Bush can't even speak English. The attitude may not be the best one to have, but I understand it. We'll see which one is more prevalent come November.

Starman was right about one thing (amidst his looney ramblings) the MTV awards show did suck in my opinion compared to other years (hey but if you liked em great, your still an American :) . There were some good points though.

THE GOOD and the BAD...

Boring host who brought little to the table (it is much better when there is a comedian of some sort such as Jack Black, Fallon etc.) Beasty Boys were great but the the other two musical numbers were terrible, D12---man you really see how that song is video drivin and not meant for CD or live, and what ever that other band was... the 'lets pick one obscure band and try to designate them as the next 'it' thing. Will Ferrel and his interviews GREAT, every single introduction terrible,

Just didn't seem to have the fun energy of other shows.

But why am I writing this here, this thread name is so bizarre that no one will be reading about the actual mtv awards.

First off, Michael Moore is not anti-american, he's anti-dumbass. I like that.

Second, Jack Black is a great actor although his recent movies have really sucked. You want to see a great film with Jack Black, go watch High Fidelity. It's damn brilliant.

Third, people *should* hate MTV, not for your stupid reasons but because they force horrible "music" down America's throat, air 90% reality TV and in general just blast a big ole dookie on American culture.
 
I think that MTV and Hollywood in general would love to get Bush thrown out of office and replaced by anyone, even an idiot like John Kerry. What really is starting to bother me is that every Awards show, concert, or event turns into a bash bush opportunity. I agree that this is America and they have the freedom to wear or say pretty much what they want, but dont force it down my throat. Let awards shows be just that, an awards show.. Why the bash-Bush crap day in and day out and at every televised event? I just want to watch a good show on TV and avoid all the political crap. Is that too much to ask ?

Really the political stuff was pretty tame, with the honestly kinda strange michael moore being about it that I can remember. Jack Black wearing a T-shirt is not a Bash-Bush expression. It is political, but it is an 'ad' for support. (I don't remember Black's acceptance speech as I was flipping between that and the Piston game so maybe he did say something and I didn't hear.) I did think the Moore 'ad' felt forced and didn't fit.

I haven't watched the show yet (I'm hooked on Celebrity Poker) - did they show ads for other movies? I can understand why Farenheit 9/11 would be getting a push since it's stirred up a lot of controversy after Disney refused to distribute it, it just won the Palme d'Or in Cannes and it's coming out at the end of the month.

Before your cunning and well researched argument, I would have thought that any and all free-market corporations are following "the American way", but I was mistaken. I should have known that only a brilliant economic analyst and political scientist such as yourself could make the determination between the pro-American Nintendo and the obviously communist Microsoft. Only in a country like Soviet Russia or communist China could a man like Bill Gates build a multi-billion dollar empire from nothing. It should be obvious that everyone else here needs to do their research on the issue, like you have.
