Im finally getting a new pc that can play some games
quad core with a 4890 or 5850

is there a must have pc game, ideally exclusive?
i remember all the hype on crysis and was looking at crysis maximum edition.
is that it or should i look at something else?

i want something that i can turn on and itll make me smile and be happy i laid down the $ for the new pc.

For exclusive and pushing your comp to its max, Crysis would be the way to go.

For total system pushers:
Supreme Commander
Really any 2008 and later modern game

Though I can't say the following games are going to push your computer to its limits, "must haves" + exclusive would have to be...

Depending on what you like/genre/playstyle

Blizzard titles:
Warcraft 3
Starcraft
Diablo 2
World of Warcraft

Battlefield 2
Counterstrike: Source
STALKER (Not really a must have, but exclusive FPS)

Company of Heroes
Empire: Total War

Neverwinter Nights
The Witcher (Maybe not a must have, but a solid RPG)

I think those are exclusive to the PC and should get you started in genres such as FPS, RTS, RPG. PC isn't really known for the Action/Platforming, so nothing like God of War or Mario, unfortunately

oblivion with the ridiculous mods like the render everything mod (or something useful like texture replacement packs, lod replacements, etc.)

STALKER with mods, LURK is good.

thanks for the suggestions so far.
id really like experiences that I cant get on the current consoles.
I have starcraft and warcraft 3. not interested in wow and will wait for diablo 3
i have nwn and all its expansions.
i have oblivion and its expansions for the 360 and i put 100 hours into it.
i still need to finish shivering isle.

i guess ill grab crysis maximum.
i kept missing the tf2 sale on steam but i planned on getting that.
ill probably try and pick up something for MP that cags are playing.
It looks like Dragon Age is a must-have on PC, though it's not exclusive per se, the console controls are getting hammered in reviews.
ive been going back and forth on grabbing the 360 version now or the pc whenever i feel like it. I think im going to pick up the pc version when i can get it on sale.
its nice to see stuff and it be $10 cheaper at launch anyway.

im really looking to get a couple things that can give me something I can only get on the pc.

thanks for everyones input so far, i appreciate it.

See the below for games that can only be experienced on the PC.

Dawn of War II
Torchlight
Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Microsoft Flight Simulator X

ill have to check into torchlight.
im waiting on a deal for civ4 complete but its on my short list.
thank you.

I'll second the orange box motion if you're looking for some older games to bring along with you.

Civ 4 would also be sweet if you can find it cheap (maybe steam aroudn christmas time... at least, that's what i'm hoping).

Absolutely the Orange Box.
Crysis isn't really a must have, but I thought it was fun. I'd definitely pick up the ME.
Shattered Horizon looks really good, it's a zero gravity FPS (PC exclusive) made by Future Mark, it really pushes hardware and looks great.

Team Fortress 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Shadow of Chernobyl with complete 2009 mod
Gothic 3
Swat 4 (old but good)
Battlefield 2 (old but amazing until BC2 that is.)
Half Life 2 (tons of amazing mods on top of the game!)
Left 4 Dead
Nation Red (amazing dev support, only available on steam though)
Unreal Tournament 3 (not as bad as people say)
Zombie Shooter and Zombie Shooter 2 (not graphically intense but still awesome!)
Crysis (Breath-taking on high settings)
Bioshock
Peggle? (this game is like crack DONT play it!)
Overlord (recently picked this up with the new steam sale and it's way better than it was on consoles for me)
If you like point and click: The new Tales of Monkey Island chapters and the Wallace and Gromit game episodes - These games are like playing animated movies.

I second dragon age, if you are into crpgs. Also, Dawn of War II, Zeno Clash, and Torchlight are pretty great. For this year, those are some of my top games best experienced on PC.

Must have pc game.

Sins Of a Solar Empire.

I cant believe no one has listed it. Best RTS in a long time. you can pick it up at Target for 19.99

I got this game when it came out and havent looked for other PC games.
That is untill starcraft 2 finaly comes out.(although torchlight is looking interesting)

i might have to wait until next month. lovely government shorted me over $5k this month.
