QUESTION:

If a "buy it now" doesn't sell, do I get a free re-list?

troy
You should be able to and then revise things however you want.
SHIPPING (and handling):

$1.00 envelope
$1.88 ship
$2.00 gasoline (25 miles round trip)
===========
$4.88
Yeah, well most of the people around here are nice and toss in something extra for fellow CAG's like free shipping.

First class w/ delivery confirmation is only 1.84-2.20

Basically the same price but you get the game in a few days and have a tracking number. Thats my whole point. The problem has more to do with media mail.

I totally agree with you. It's also been argued to death in like 4 threads. Priority would also be easily covered in $4.88.

At least he brought it down from $5.88 for media mail, which he had in his older auctions.

Not 45. 44. - I expect *someone* to pay $44. Why not? I paid $40+2ship+1tax = $43.

PRIORITY SHIP & HANDLING = $5.88
$3.85 =box/ship
$2.00 =25 miles worth of gasoline
=====================
$5.85

Never ship Media Mail, ever. The chance of your item getting lost is doubled, and the amount of time to arrive is doubled as well. At the very least, do First Class. But as per your price...
Why would someone pay $45 for a Brand new GT4 when they can buy it from an actually store for a 'few dollars' more, if even that? Considering this game is 5 months old, you'll never reach that price, expecially since auctions have ended with Brand New copies selling for $27 on average.

EDIT- Also, after looking at your account you have 13 negatives and a bunch of Neutrals. Regardless if some are retaliation, thats still alot for somone to openly buy a game for $40.

Going rate of GT4 New on ebay looking to be about $33-40 total with shipping. Theres maybe 1 or 2 that got $43. GL

Of, and as per your 'shipping price/methods' I agree with you. Why should I charge $3.85 to ship when I have to package the item, drive it down to the P.O., Wait in and line, ship it, and then assume responsibility if the P.O. loses it. However, most people on ebay do not understand that. When they see a $1.50 sticker on an item they paid $4 to ship, they freak out. Forget that I paid $1 to buy the envelope, and $.50 to use Delivery Confirmation, ugh.

Gizmoc and electrictroy, you're supposed to have each other on your ignore lists.

This is proof that you don't, and let me remind you that you're supposed to.

I know you two know the proposed alternative.

gizmoc *is* on my ignore list.

Why do you need to go 25 miles for a post office? There's like 10 post offices within 5 miles of your address according to the USPS site, including one that's 0.15 miles away.

I'm not at my home address. I'm sitting in a hotel in NC. I only know of one post office, and it's ~12 miles distant.

Hey Judy, why is it you (repeatedly) get your panties in a knot, over *other* people's shipping? Do you own Ebay stock? Seriously..... why do you care about my $2.00 gasoline charge? Are you planning to buy the game?

What is your interest in my auction?

Are you planning to buy the game?

troy
Maybe she cares about your profit so much that she is offering a smart business alternative to wasting two dollars on gas? Who knows, people are funny though.

I prefer that Judy answer the question, [because she's the one always giving me (and others) a hard time about shipping.]

She thinks charging $2.00 for gasoline is too much...... I just want to know WHY SHE CARES.

troy

Okay, here you go.
Maybe she cares about your profit so much that she is offering a smart business alternative to wasting two dollars on gas? Who knows, people are funny though.
Edited to add: If that's not an acceptable answer, then I care as a buyer who sees this all the time, and I care as a seller that doesn't pass on unnecessary shipping & handling fees to my bidders.

All I care about is *making money*. The only way that will happen is by charging my gasoline fees to the customer. If I wanted to give away games, I wouldn't use ebay. I'd just hand them to the kid next door.

But I'm in this for the money. I paid $43 for GT4, and I want to get that money back. Understand?

As for my feedback, last I checked it was 96% which is a solid grade of "A".

troy

hey guy give it a rest...no one here is going to buy your over priced non-cheap assed game, so leave it up to one of the billion other ebayers to not buy it and let it go.

sheesh. you want money then be legit on the whole deal or cut the crap.

If you just want your money back then why don't you just return the game where you bought it from?

I'd lose ~$5 if I shipped it back to the internet store.

Also, if you think 95% is bad, then you have the problem - too damn perfectionist. 95.4% is still an A. It's not possible to achieve 100% when you have to deal with idiot ebayers.

Like the guy who complained I shipped him a broken game (okay... so ask for a refund... there's no need to neg). Or the idiot who paid for a model airplane, but refused to pay the shipping, and negged me. And then there was the VCR buyer, who paid via paypal, I shipped, he received, and then he charged it back & negged me.

It's not possible to get perfection when you have to deal with Idiot Buyers. These people remind me of the guy at Sears who said, "Why are you rejecting my credit card?!?!?" I looked at his account. "Simple. Because you haven't paid your bill for 4 months!" Freakin' idiots.

Anyone who has worked retail, knows that some buyers are just impossible to please... and therefore 100% satisfaction is not possible.

troy

Anyone on this site with an interest in GT 4 can just use a $5 dollar off coupon at Best Buy, and score the game for $45... hell they can even use a GGC on it.

No way someone is going to pay $44 from you, espically with the reputation you've built on this site.

Or they could just buy the numerous copies listed from 28-33 dollars?
(shrug)

Then I'll keep the game. I'm not going to give away a game for less than I paid.

troy
That's some dumb logic. I bought Madden 05 at launch, do you think I can get $50 for it?

I agree with your shipping and people not understanding. When you factor in packaging .35
shipping first class w/conf 2.25
listing fee 1.55
final value fee 1.30
pp fee 1.30
time/gas 1.00 at minimum
you get 7.75. If you sell on ebay and charge actual shipping you will be losing money left and right.
Also it is very tough to achieve a perfect rating, ebayers DO NOT read. Even if you describe your item perfectly you will recieve negative or neautral feedback now and then. Finally if you do not like the price just ignore, knowbody is holding a gun to your head making you buy.

That's not even dumb logic, it's completely illogical.

The easiest way to get what you want for the game is to roll the shipping into your "Buy it Now" price and advertise "Free Shipping". You can also include something lying around as a "bonus" like a Jampack, EGM, or try to find a cheap game guide to include.

troy
This looks like you're not going to sell it on eBay, and this thread is quite lockable.

Since, IMHO, we have no need for another "this is why I'm charging this much for shipping, prove me wrong" thread from electrictroy.
