My BestBuy Elite invites?

Hey fellow CAGs.  I understand that some My BestBuy Elite members have been given some invites to promote the Elite part of the My BestBuy program, and I'm wondering what the advantage really is.  Is this a permanent thing, or just a yearly upgrade?  Is it worth it?

It's here because this seemed to me to be the most appropriate forum for it. If there's a better one, I'm open to it being moved by the mods. Invites are free, the program the invites are based on is free...it seemed right at the time. Apologies if I overstepped.
