My custom painted Dreamcast system on Ebay

do you think you could give me some steps so I could do that? Thats just really clean looking...I mean...how did you get the buttons and around the dreamcast sign so well? If you could PM or something and give me some tips that would be great!
If I shipped my DC to you and paid you a little do you think you could do one?
Sure! I thought about doing it for other people, what I do is take the dreacast COMPLETELY apart and the paint the parts I want painted , I used to have to do it the hard way by sanding ,paint, clear coat. Now they this paint for plastics , it's made by krylon it works very well, I paint in my basement(the dang basement is too damp and for sometimes a little chips of concrete will end up on there, or a hair etc. so I try to get it off and that's how I end up making mistakes, which happen on this one but I think my next on will be perfect!!!*followed by insane laughter*

As far as the buttons go they have to be poped out then painted, the Dreamcast symbol has to be taken out(normally I use a small blade to get it off, once you get under it , it will come up real easy) and placed back on later after every thing is done..

how much would you charge?
You should paint the controller too or at least the controller wire. But awesome job anyways.
Yeah, I want to a matching controller, but I could not find my longer screwdriver that fits the screws deeper in the controller. If I find it or buy another one, I will do a controller also.

ive been thinking about doing that to mine for a while now, i guess i should now. ill post flix of when im done.

You know what I don't know ,All I would need is your system(no cables), a controller if you want that done also. I was thinking 40.00? that would cover shipping back to you($8-10?)+ paint($3+per can)+ time. Let me know if your interested.

im intrested but totally dont have the $ for that, if youre still around when i do ill be in touch

also might have a screw driver to open controllers

good job, it looks really good. I wonder if it will go for a lot because people on ebay are stupid.

I couldn't even notice the mistake until you mentioned it in the description

im probably just going to do it the same way you did it but a different color. Did you paint the bottom, theres all them damn stickers on it

Yeah I did paint the bottom, taped off the bottom where all the system info and the black squares are but the serial# came off. so there is a white spot where the sticker was
Shit, for $40 I'll find time to paint your Dreamcast!
$40 bucks covers everything! Shipping back and paint, plus the time. the paint is like 3.99 it was on sale when I got it for 2.99. I could go 35 for system & controller.

yeah all krylon by me is 2.99 reg. price...I can get it for 1.99 sometimes...I do graff so I know all about paint...I just didnt know how to get the buttons and what-not

well i just did mine and i gotta put it back together (shits hard). um how do i post pics of it???

You do graff too? werd good to see other graff gamers

it cost around 5 bucks to ship...and you only use prolly one or two cans...thats upwards of 8 or 9 dollars...labor around 5...so...so that would be around 20+
labor around 5...
I'm pretty sure in a scenario like this, the laborer would be the one who gets to pick his price :D I doubt this job would take less than an hour, so it'd easily be worth more than $5 IMO

That is a very cool looking system. I was thinking of doing the same to an old Nintendo.
Have you seen the nes computer?
http://www.junkmachine.com/nintendo/
heheh BigNick.. I remember seeing the NES computer on TechTV and spitting tea all over my parents' living room. I'm not willing to attempt building one though.
I want to start painting my DC soon. Does anyone know of a website that shows how to take apart and put their DC back togeteher without messing any insides up? Or is it simple enough without a tutorial?
LINK

The pics should be up there soon. The site has gotten a facelift since the last time I visited it, so I'm figuring he is still in the process of finalizing the site.
this place says sand it...but js1 said he didnt have to...js1 do you know whether I should or not?
I did not have to sand you use krylon fusion paint it's like 3.99 a can, no sanding needed(it bonds with the plastic). the total process takes more than a few hours, I like to paint at night let it dry over night after an hour or so it can be touched but I like to be safe, and it says to put a second coat on within 7 days I usually put it on in the morning and go to work or do whatever and come back to it and put it together. so for me it takes A little while longer but I want to get it done right! :) And for 30-35 I think it is a reasonable price to have an custom system done.Even though we ALL are GAG's

I think I may try to paint a broken PS2 controller I have, just to give it a shot before I do systems.

Do you think I should mask off the words on front ( I CAN do it, it would just be hard) or just paint over them?

That's spiffy!

Anyone remember Sega releasing those "official" transparent replacement shells? It was a japan only thing and now I wish I had imported one...

Personally, I try to avoid Ebay postings with that many typos. Otherwise, it looks cool. Of course, the Dreamcast looks cool anyway.

What do you mean by typos?

I know! I got a 3rd party one off of ebay, and just put my DC logo on it. I'm a sucker for clear things like that, I also like the clear xbox.

I just added a pic of the DC controller for my auction, I just painted the underside of the controller because I was running out of paint.
