This is quite the hit. I applaud you.
Thanks :D I did not expect it to be, because people have seen custom systems before, I just wanted to get my auction noticed and to see what my fellow CAG's Thought...

Damn! Thats some good painting! Maybe you should do the case part of the systems and sell them so people wouldn't have to buy a new system. I'd defintley buy one for my ps2!

That sounds like a good idea but I still have to buy a shell or another system, I have a shell I could paint and sell on ebay they would have to put there own system in along with their own DC lid sticker. would it be worth it? I see some people selling painted xbox & ps2 shells on ebay, but no DC love. The Dreamcast is my MOST played system, mainly because of all the fighting games..

not sure if this has been said already, don't feel like reading 4 pages of thread. I'm lazy :)

anyway, you should probably paint the controller too to go with the system.

I am almost done with my next system, just have to touch it up some and put the lid sticker on and of course put the guts in.

For all you non-painters out there...asking $40 to paint a system is rather low. It takes alot of time and patience. I painted my gameboy SP Orange, and let me tell you...that was quite an experiance. After a coat of primer + 3 coats paint + 1 coat clear + one coat clear satin (to make it look legit). It took 2 days. You cant paint it all in one go, well you can...but it'll look like shit. It's good to let the paint settle for at least 2 hours per coat to do a real good job.

Oh hell yeah! that is the truth! I'm having a little trouble with the new one I'm doing right now I keep finding spots that I have to go back over. and somehow a small hair ALWAYS finds it's way on to it.

Yes, $40 is low if the painter was going to sand and prime and paint and clear coat. Except the painter is using Krylon Fusion which is no prep work besides cleaning the surface. I would pay $40 for someone to sand, prime, clear coat, and paint my Cube. I would not pay $40 for Krylon Fusion when I can do it myself for 1/4 of the price if not less.

No offense to js1 though, he does a good job and he is offering his services to the CAG community. Much :applause: to that cause I'd never have the time to do the same.

When you do more controllers you should think about painting the buttons along with the back. I did it with my controller and it just looks so cool.

damn you all.. having all these extra Dreamcasts to just be paintin and shit... and i cant find a damn one anywhere :( (mainly b/c i dont buy stuff online)

Krylon Fusion is easily chippable garbage...dont ever use it

You might call Krylon Fusion garbage but that is what the OP is using.

IMO, Krylon fusion is decent. I have not had a chipping problem but it definitely will not qive you the quality finish of the normal "sand, prime, paint, clearcoat" procedure.

I will be putting a another one on VERY soon a day or two from now , I kind hoped it would go for more, but it ended kind of late , I think about9-11 EST would work out better.
so do you just buy up old DC's to paint and sell? looks good by the way.
You can get DC's so cheap now and I like painting them, so I figured why not do it and if I can make something cool and make a little extra money, then it's worth it! I think that is so neat that fellow gamers would like something that I have done(that some people see as pointless or stupid), it makes me feel good. I would like to Thank EVERYONE for their mostly EXCELLENT input! :D and PLEASE keep an eye out for more DC systems to come!
