My daily CAg advice topic: WTF am I gonna do tomorrow!!!
I disagree, I don't think you should ever give in to a half-assed teacher. True, it's easier to play their game, but theres no honor in that. Sometimes you need to stand up to a teacher because a lot of them simply don't do their job.
Heh, noble youth...

IMHO, it's rather arrogant to think one should never back down. It's not about honor, it's about choosing your battles and getting what you want while dealing with asshats who have power over you.

If a person is as smart as they like to think they are, they'll figure out the easiest way to get what they want, and it usually doesn't involve direct confrontation.
Hmmm, I don't see exactly why he should have (or could have) been expelled or arrested in this situation. While cursing out the teacher is certainly a punishable offense, I think that it hardly warrants either of the two aforementioned punishments (unless it's really, really bad.) As far as the "assault" goes, based upon the OP's description it seemed to just be an accident and nothing intentional. Should there still be consequences for his reckless binder tossing? Sure, a suspension for a few days would be an appropriate punishment for the whole incident, IMHO. But I see no reason why expulsion or an arrest should have even been considered here.
Actually he could get expelled under Zero Tolerence policies. I knew a kid in elementary school that got in a fight with another kid and as the teachers were trying to break them up the one kid ducked and he landed a punch right on the teacher. Did he mean to hit the teacher? Not at all. Did he get punished all the same? Yep, he was gone from school the next day and never came back.

Another girl I knew in Junior High had a fake bullet necklace. Just a single fake bullet on a chain. A teacher saw it one day and she got expelled for having a weapon in school.

Yes, all these cases are extreme but that's what happens when you have Zero Tolerance policies.

It's not always about the easiest thing to, sometimes you need direct confrontation. But I don't mean throwing binders and cursing out teachers.

Well, that depends on your definition of confrontation. Yes, before anything else, the first course of action when you have a problem would be to go to the teacher and discuss the situation. However, I assure you, from personal experience, this doesn't always work, and especially with the more bull-headed of the teacher species you will learn that sometimes you have to concede some ground to get what you want. There's no shame or dishonor in that.

I'm just amazed they are going to let you back into the class after that shit, where I went to school we shipped all the problem students off to a special school. But yeah I'm sure you'd still be the top of your class there, although the constant abuse might get to you.

It's a friggin B, deal with.

sucks that you got a "B" but it sucks worse that you have that attitude.... how about turning the tables and say you got a "B" but the teacher was expecting you to get an "A". The teacher throws a hissy fit (just like you) and curses you out and thows a binder at your face? Dunno but ppl are so self-centered that they are too pinheadded to see that there are other things that matter besides themselves. (think about the sub and his feelings, even if he didnt care about yours, that doesnt change the way you have to treat ppl. The other students in class that are happy to pass that class that you want to have an "A" in, etc. not to say that you shouldnt express yourself but with this freedom (of expression) you have to have the responsibility and the consideration to others when you DO express it.) Confide in your friends and talk to them about this instead of using a forum to get solutions. (which I think is very self-serving as well but that is just me...)

Chemistry Grade: B (can be changed to an A)
Current Life Grade: Below Average (considering this situation, of course can be changed for the better ^_^)

I though I'd give everyone an update. The asshole screwed up. He had a missing test grade for me. I really got a B+ and he changed the grade. He wouldn't even have checked if I hadn't made that scene. Anyway, the jokes on him now. He's the one getting int trouble. Another long story why...

First things first. You have to apologize to the sub. Then you have to ask yourself a couple of questions. 1) Do I have a syllbus for this course? 2) Is the sub following this syllbus? 3) What is the break down for getting a good grade in class? (i.e. attendance, test, etc.) 4) Look at the grade break down and compare it to your performance. 5) Confront the teacher with your evidence in place. 6) If you truly deserve an A and still don't get it bring your evidence to the prinicpal or vice principal.

I did that before when I had a dispute with a teacher about a grade. When she wouldn't except the evidence in front of her I went to the principal and he changed my grade personally.

GOOD LUCK!!

EDIT: OOPS!! posted this before reading the final post. My bad. I still say my advice is pretty damn good though ;)

But I bet he would have checked it if you asked nicely. And I don't see how a missing test could have affected your grade. If you have 8 tests and get A's on all of them your grade will be the same as if you had 9 tests and get A's on all of them.

And do you happen to go to school in Bizzaro World? The teacher gets in trouble for forgetting a test score, but yet nothing happens to you for assaulting a teacher.

Its like that hey arnold episode, where Helga's Sister, whos perfect, goes into a depression, after an A is changed to a B

It might be a long story but I think we'd all like to hear it.

Still say that the student is the stupider one in this case...
You're bitching over a B?

God, cry a bit more, emo kid. I call shens on the story. No one's stupid enough to bitch about an above-average grade.. and if they are, they wouldn't fucking throw a binder and assault a teacher.
Oh you'd be surprised, when I was in high school a couple kids would actually cry and throw shit fits when they would get an A- instead of an A. I personally witnessed this a few times.

Like someone said earlier, you probably could have found the missing test grade without freaking out at the teacher. And a B+ is still not an A. I mean, it's good you got a B+ instead of a B (people should always get the grade they earned), but you were bitching about not getting the A that you deserved and being the smartest kid in the class blah blah blah.
Ok, let me explain my situation. Im in high school as you guys know. I'm in 11th grade and today in chemistry we got our grades for the quarter. Now, I hate to brag, but I am the smartest kid in the class. I consistently get As on everything in the class and have not gotten less than a 90 on a quiz this quarter. Now, we have a substitute teacher for the next few montrhs because our regular teacher had a baby. Our sub gave us our grades and I got a B. I hate this motherfucker more than any teacher and frequently bust his nuts(he's a jerk, he deserves it). However, there is no excuse for me to not get an A.

Now, onto the juicy part. I got so pissed I literally told him to fuck himself and how he his class is BS. Then I got so mad I ran out of class, and threw my binder and it hit another teacher (who is a total bitch and who I also like to piss off) in the head. I had to go to the principal, blah, blah, blah... but the point is, how do I deal with my teacher tomorrow to get my grade changed? How should I approach the situation with this dickhead? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Are you by any chance releated to DDF? I'm not sure why, but I found myself suddenly wondering about that...

But seriously, that's a load of BS on your part. I guess there's nothing to say for civility anymore.

So after all that talk about how you're the one of the smartest kids in your class and there's no way you could've gotten less than an A on your test, your real score was a B+. And you're still talking about how he's getting in trouble and he screwed up. Wow, look at yourself for a change.

Seriously. Since his original post wasn't a joke, he has to be fucking stupid to even THINK of asking the teacher to change his grade after the crap he pulled. Luckily the teacher is just as idiotic, if not moreso, than him to give him the B+. "I'm so smart, I run out in the middle of class and hit a teacher with a binder in the process!!!!1"

And you (not moiety, whoever posted this) say a B in a class would ruin his grade to get into a really good school. First of all I think this was just for the freaking QUARTER, colleges only look at semester one and final grades, if they even look at semester grades. If he does as great in the class as he says he does, he should have an A for a final grade. I don't think with his asinine attitude he belongs in anything close to an Ivy anyway.
Absolutely. You'll bump into these teachers from time to time, and it's just easier to play the game and give them what they want, rather than to try to prove yourself right. The earlier you learn this, the easier it'll be for you, not only in school, but in life.
Even if you were right it doesn't excuse your behavior.

He's not smart enough to be related to me

I get this feeling it has something to do with the amount of As the Males in the class got, to the amount of As the Females got. Multiply that by the amount of times the sub has held "Special" after-school study sessions in which only a select few were told about, and Add by a few charges of Jailbait-- and I think you'll get your answer.

If he does happen to live in Bizzaro World, then Strike out all the Females and replace that word with Males.

Wow, what the hell is up with kids today. If you were as smart as you say you are you would've have just gone to the teacher and reviewed your grades for every assignment.

When did kids start having such big heads, egos, and lack of respect in general and specifically for authority? Seriously people learn, show, teach everyone you know to respect everyone and everything. The world would be a much better place.
