it's not really worth it if the memory card is not included... you'll have to buy a fresh one just for AC if you want to play it (which is why nintendo included the card with the game in the first place)

I was under the impression the memory card shipped with the game had some kind of data file essential for unlocking some in-game content, so you'd miss out on that if you bought it without the memory card (or even with it, if you bought it used and decided to start a new game - am I right?)
