My eBay Store

I've found better deals in stores than in auctions. I think the stores get shafted because they don't appear in searches automatically.
Is their an extra cost to having a ebay store?
You pay a flat fee every month of $16 for a basic store, but there are advantages. It costs you 2 cents to list an item for 30 days, and 1 cent to add a gallery picture. However, they take a higher percentage when the item sells, so it doesn't really make it cheaper.

If you're selling huge quantities of items with a nice mark up it might be worth it, but all in all eBay stores are ass. What's the point in listing something if nobody see's it?

Yeah it sucks that you get shafted on the sales, I am however interested in the Tenchu 2 n Xenosaga guide, any chance I can cut you a check sorry no paypal, perhaps a CAG friendly shipping rate as well, I live right across the bridge in NYC,I wouldnt mind waiting the few days for Media, PM me if interested

Oops, good point. Thanks for pointing that out, it should be $12.99.

You need to have a few items in the regular listing section, as well as items in your store. In your item description section of your regular listings, direct people to your store listings. You could also offer some sort of store deals, like free shipping if you spend x amount of dollars. Having an ebay store is a good idea, just don't put all your "eggs in one basket", so to speak.

That's a good point. If I see a deal I like in a regular auction, I pretty much always check out that seller's store.

Oooh... now that is a tempting price. If only I had a few more bucks in my PayPal account...

Lemmings!

I love Lemmings, at least the one for the Super Nintendo. I rented it all the time, probably enough to pay for a new copy back then. Anyone ever play this Lemmings? I am tempted to buy it from the OP and check it out.

We have a store, and we always list 10-15 regular auctions per week to drive traffic to the store. We have about 50 or so items in the store at any given price. Generally, we put the disk only stuff on auction, but the mint or complete stuff goes in the store.

But yes, people are stupid. We had an Ace Combat Bundle new in our store that went in a day and a half, and a used one (game only used for display, noted in auction) for $60 less that we moved to our store, because it didn't sell at our fixed price.

I tend to notice auctions more than store items, myself. And as they don't have a noticable time expiration, I don't feel as rushed to buy.

That's my 2 cents.

Unless you have literally hundreds of high volume items (think cables, extension cords, etc.) that are hard to keep listed, Ebay stores are absolute ripoffs to run. You are much better off using auctions. Even if you do think you have a need for an Ebay store, at that point you should probably be setting up your own website with a shopping cart instead.

Any deals for cags? *insert the suggestive eyebrows smiley that is missing for some reason on cag forums*

Also - you can reduce shipping to media mail with DC if you want - i'm in no rush to receive it (got a lot to play as it is).

Well, if I keep on the eBay Store thing, and I may, I will likely post here with deals for CAGs. Linking to the site from outside means saving money on their final value fee, so it should benefit buyer and seller.

As for shipping with Media Mail, yes, I could. But I can do Priority Mail with free tracking for 3.85, which isn't that much more than MM with tracking. I figure, the less time it's in the hands of the USPS, the better off the package is. Besides, people usually seem to appreciate getting their items quickly. The number of times I pay $5 and get the package a week or more later is mind boggling.

I received some good feedback and ideas. Thanks for the advice and opinions, it is appreciated.

I've always liked Lemmings, it's so simple it's almost rediculous. The PSone version has the original, which I think is the same as the SNES version, and part 2 as well.

I agree. I've found the store a great vehicle to get rid of stuff I cant get rid of otherwise (ie strat guides, cheap games). I also make everything BEST OFFER items, and Ive found a lot of the times I reject an offer the person buys it for my price anyways. I also have a lot of higher end items up for auction to drive traffic to it, and people are always asking about combined shipping.

Also, note that people who buy from an outside link (ie the link in the OP) you get 75% of your fees back, meaning its MUCH cheaper than regular auctions. Just have a volume enough to make the $16 worth your while.

Yes, I'm going to have to set it up with good auctions that encourage people to buy extra stuff. I'll have to double check this, but shipping on 2 games should be just as much as one. I'd better break out the scale later and check.

I'm not sure exactly how the 75% off with a link works, if it's just post a link to the store or to the auction itself. Still, I'll work it out eventually. With 1300+ feedback, I'm not so bad at getting things moving.

In a moment of weakness, I almost posted my sealed Suikoden II with guide. Then I came to my senses.

For prioirity mail 2 games should still be under 1 pound, so you are right that it will still be the same cost for 2 games vs. 1 game. ($3.85 postage)

And for one game 1st class is often cheaper than Media Mail. So keep that in mind if you are going to explore shipping options cheaper than Priority.

Well, with the exception of games in boxes such as GBA games, I can ship up to 4 games, or a game and a guide all for the same $3.85 price as long as I ship it in the Flat Rate envelope. Books and DVD cases do alright in there, but a box would likely be dented at the very least, and that's no fun.
