I usually have bought my systems at launch. (My 360 has gone to Microsoft 3xs, but it was not a launch system. A month after launch). And I have yet to have any issue with a single system, and this includes the PS2, PSP, and my two Dreamcasts. Just today, I decided to play a little NFL 2k, 2k1 and 2k2 as well as some THPS2. I dug out my DC, and after finding and connecting the correct wires...nothing came up. I was worried. I went to another tv, hoping that it was simply the little tv I was using...alas, it seemed as if one of my launch systems was dying if not dead. After I cursed for a minute, I saw that the AV plug was not fully situated within the DC. Joy of joys. Nintendo systems have never failed me, and I expect them all to live eternally...and thankfully, my DC will continue to live for the time being. BTW, I sure do miss the NFL 2k series.

I had a dreamcast die, but that was becuse a girl named Phalen would kick it off were it normaly rested (becuse she is a major cluts). She bitched about foot room... yada yada yada. This happend 20 or so times, and i wish i was kidding. Well it doesent work anymore, so i got a used one and its been going strong after i stoped hanging with here... good to see yours still working.

I think the dreamcast was awsome, but for some add reason it dident do well in japan, even though it was kicking major butt in amarica. I think if they stuck with it, they would still be makeing consoles today.

Nintendo systems may last forever, but Sega systems like the Dreamcast do not.

Also, I think what destroyed Sega was dropping the Saturn too soon. That allowed Sony to completely swallow its marketshare. There was a full year's gap between the end of the Saturn and the release of the Dreamcast. That went contrary to what's previously been done when the NES and SNES coexisted. Later on the SNES and N64 and the PSX and PS2. Then Dreamcast came out without a DVD player. Then Sony comes along with theirs and it was already too late for Sega.

Saturn $400
PSX $300

another huge reason it never went far. Back in HS I would never imagine buying a 400 dollar system. Now I cant imagine buying a $599 one.

the dead controller port is a problem for the dreamcast (dont remove the controller when the system is on)

I have 5 working Dreamcast's. I pick them up when I see them cheap at yard sales and flea markets. I have a ton of DC games and it is probably my favorite system, I alway's want to have a back up.
Sega just didn't have the brand name power.
Or the quality software.
