So I'm using the store locator function, you know, the one that supposedly dosen't work right according to every Gamestop employee. Would you believe it, one Gamestop that is on the way to the museum I'm going to tonight has a Gitaroo Man! I give them a call, the lady on the other end of the phone is very nice... she seems to immediately know what game I'm talking about, says it is complete, in great condition, she's working all night and will hold it for me until I come in.
Great! At this point, I'm thinking all these horror stories about Gamestop's and bad employees hoarding games are just BS. So my friend and I get there, she goes up to the desk and says "Yes, hi, we called about Gitaroo Man?" to which this lady says "Yes, here it is, this game looks really fun". Wow, this is turning out to be great.
Another employee walks over at this point, eyes the Gitaroo Man, and tells her "What do you think you're doing? You can't sell that, it's on hold for Arnold, you're not allowed to sell stuff out of the drawer." and he starts hovering over the game. At this point I'm thinking there will be hell to pay if he tries to snatch it back or something stupid.
This is my favorite part: the nice lady (who I guess is a manager) tells him "Well, Arnold has been on vacation for 4 or 5 days, and this thing has been in there since before that... I can't hold it for him any longer, it's not right." To which this guy says "Well, whatever, he's going to be real upset" and sulks off to the back. When I ask to check the condition, she tells me "Oh, the cd looks real nice, Arnold has cleaned it every day it seems" to which we both laughed.
After the transaction was over, she asked me why the game was so sought after... when I told her why, her jaw seemed to have dropped to the ground, it was pretty funny. My friend had also mentioned that Arnold picked a real bad time to go on vacation, it seems.
So bravo to the awesome customer service at Gamestop... any other employee at that store would have probably said "Oh, the store locator is wrong, we don't have it". And to Arnold, if you read CAG... sorry man, don't leave super rare games like that in the hold drawer for days at a time, it's what credit cards were made for
