If anybody has any insight on what to do... My old job (Circuit City :whistle2:#) for some strange reason deposited a little over $300 into my closed bank account (Bank of America). I am so happy for some odd reason this happened, but wondering HOW since the account is CLOSED and will I just be able to walk in a BoA branch and pull it out???

It makes me think that they never closed me account... or am I wrong?

Pleaseee any input is greatly appreciated before I can go there tomorrow and find out what is up...
Strange on two levels. I suggest you talk to your bank.

How did you learn this happened anyway?
Today in the mail I received a statement from them that basically just said +$3xx.xx

Totally strange. I'm more curious as to why Circuit City would give me money when I haven't worked there in well over a year. The bank account just accepted the transaction, hopefully I will be able to find out more tomorrow, I hope some fellow CAGer may be able to give some advice or has dealt with this before...

If you got a letter that account aint closed. Go get your money now before they take it back. : p

EDIT : Better yet if you have online banking try to transfer the money out now. Use ING. Its really good.

I just logged in my online banking, which didn't work previous, but now works! and it is sitting there... I have no clue out to transfer/get it out though. I think I have an ING account though, I can log in and use that?

You should be able to just go to a local branch and have them cut a check for the balance in the acct.
And as for why CC sent you the money its probably for owed vacation/sick days

This.

Be thankful that you got something as most places will "forget"/clean out what they owe you when they leave.

I made sure before I left that I cleaned out my so called "PTO" (Paid Time Off)

Plus I never really got much from it because I was part time... I will just look at it as a bonus I guess

Also, if you are still wondering, banks will reopen accounts / gladly accept deposits to recently closed accounts. They usually do this as a "common courtesy" to the customer, it's much easier to deal with a bank holding the money then the person / company who tried to deposit it. Most of the time it can take the depositer weeks to track down the fact that the deposit was rejected. Banks are always glad to take your money, so they can quickly reinvest it and make more $ of your $. Of course you can just go in and withdraw it, but you will probably have to re-close the account.

I did just that, I just got back from the bank... Told them the situation, I withdrew the money, and re-closed the account

I am so pumped that I got $300 and change for some reason (like I hit lotto)

I still am curious why they did that, but I guess I'll just mind my business :whistle2:\"
