My phone snapped in half -- need a new Verizon phone today (help!)

coltyhuxx

CAGiversary!
I'm going to stick with Verizon because most all of my friends use their service. Which helps because I get the lowest minute plan possible (w/ unlimited texting).

So, I previously owned a Chocolate (mark 1) and that phone with it sense-touch pad really sucked. I played around with the newer model. Much improved. Anyway, do any of you have a new Verizon phone that you like?

I hear good things about this LG Voyager.... (the keypad is appealing since i text so much) I'm not terribly interested in mulitmedia options but not opposed to considering a phone with a lot of options, either.

Thanks for any input in advance!

I got an enV2 a month ago, and I would suggest that to you. It does have a qwerty keyboard which I got used to easily. The only complaint about mine is that even with keyguard on, the phone calls people randomly from buttons being hit while in my pocket. I've found that a phone cover fixes that problem though. Good luck on your search

I would go with the voyager however note a few quarks with it.

-If you had 2-3 bars in your home, expect to drop to 1 bar, no signal, DROPPED CALLS, direct to voice mail if someone calls you and the phone is next to you. (this may be due to the fact that their is no antenna for the phone, but for the tv network instead :(

-Screen may flicker in the front from time to time.

-Touch screen can be flickly some times.

-Verizon doesn't have a good case that protects the outer screen AND keyboard..you will have to get the Stingray case for it..however be aware that the flaw with that case is that it covers the charging/data port, memory card port AND headphone jack.

Some ups,

-2 mp camera with no flash :|

-You can add custom animated clocks and wallpaper by overwriting the default flash backgrounds with these

-Some good ring tones that WILL wake you up if you need a good wake up call.

-widescreen interface for Navigator.

-Bigger screen for movie viewing (but doesn't fit the entire screen)

-With the data cable and drivers install, you can use it as a portable storage device depending on your installed memory micro sd card.

I have a Samsung Juke. I think it's either $50 or free right now with a 2 year re-up. If you want a phone that's just a phone (and a passable 2gig mp3 player) it's a good bid.

Don't forget the leptons

i'm still rocking out with the free razr i got when signing up for Verizon last Feb.

The Env2 for the price, you realy cant beat $99.

A Voyager if your willing to pay a little more.

The Voyager has the mobile television which cost 15 dollars a month. They have a channel that is dedicated just to UEFA 2008 which was awesome at work. In my area it has 9 channels. Comedy Central, Espn and NBC. I can watch Conan when I'm killing time during work waiting to go home. They also have Nickelodeon which is great for calming down crying nieces and nephews. The only show they ever have on is sponge bob. I bet you if I went to that channel right now they would be showing squarepants.

Its an okay mp3 player. I use it to listen to podcast. Has enough memory to hold a few podcast at a time.

The touch screen is pretty sensitive. It would call people randomly when it was in my pocket. A snap on case from amazon will easily solve the problem. Bought mine for 5.00, don't forget to get a screen protector. A really good Verizon phone.

All in all a pretty good Verizon phone.

Just to let you know, today is the last day that you can cancel your Verizon contract with no ETF thanks to their fee increase. If you do, I suggest the SERO plan by sprint. (Check the Other Deals forum for the the thread.)

Anyway, I only say this because I got my friends to do this, and they love their new contract. (Most got the LG Rumor. I have it too. Awesome phone.)

I have the Samsung SCH-u740. That is the one the flip open both ways, regular for phone calls and sideways for the full keyboard.

I like this phone because it is small and has the full keyboard (I hate the regular way). The downside are the buttons are small and take a little while to get use to. Also it doesn't seem to be that strong since it opens both ways on a small hinge. I have no problem with this but if you snapped a Chocolate in half I'm not sure if it would be good for you.

The Glyde is absolute garbage. Piss poor touch screen and horrible UI. Skip the Voyager because the touch screen is inconsistent and its a brick IMO. If you can wait until Wednesday, check out the LG Dare. Its for sale now through telesales and online but it hits stores Wed. Check out some reviews and videos of it. Its a touchscreen only, pretty small, best camera in a phone VZ has to offer, and is $200 after MIR, $99-$150 if you use your NE2. I know some people who ordered it over the phone and they say that texting on it is a breeze once you spend a few minutes with the phone. Thats my 0.02

I agree, I bought the the Glyde and didn't like it too much. Touch screen wasn't that good and overall, it tends to be slow sometimes. I am exchanging it to get the LG Dare. Same price as the Glyde with the 2 yr upgrade price.

I would go to your local Verizon store and test out the phones. I was able to test out the LG Dare and it was really nice.

Are you sure it comes out Wed wasey? I though it comes out on the 3rd which is a Thurs.
