My recent Best Buy experience was not pleasurable.

Oh well, all's well that ends well. I'm just not loking forward to ever have to deal with the management at that store ever again. I should have demanded a gift card like some others have done, I guess.[/quote]

FWIW, is it possible to return it to any Best Buy, if there happens to be another one in the area? Do you have to take it to the same one it was purchased at? I know at Circuit City you can.

I haven't made a major purchase at BB since 1997 and luckily that stereo receiver still works to this day. I usually buy my big ticket items at Costco but they change their TV return policy in Feb. Luckily, my LCD TV is still under the old warrenty since I bought it before. If it ever breaks I hope I can still return it to Costco and buy a new one.

yea dealing with them is a pain in the ass.

My tv broke and it was under warranty so they were going to come out to fix it. Well i didnt feel like missing work so I scheduled it on a Saturday. I have to wait a good two weeks for the Sat appointment, then the Thursday before they are supposed to come I get a call saying they need to postpone. No reason, just have to postpone. They tell me the next Sat they have free is two weeks from then. I ask them whats the point of taking a reservation to work if they cant keep it, and the guy told me pretty much tough shit. So instead of waiting 2 weeks for another Sat, I decide to take a day off work to do it. The guy comes looks at my tv, tells me he has no spare parts and tells me to take it into the store.

I had to wait like 3 weeks just to take it in and exchange it for a new tv.

Microcenter FTW.

Seriously, why would anyone buy a big-ticket item from BB after reading this thread. I would never spend over $100 at BB, I'd rather buy electronics at freaking Target then WorstBuy.

We bought a sony tv 2 years ago. Its the older wega model, we paid a little over $2000. Since its the old model if it brakes down will they give us the newer model that they have now?

OP experience was shitty indeed, but not getting the PSP on an expensive TV is just dumb. after the 1 yr warranty is up, you are on your own.

I've never bought them and never needed them. Shit is bound to break but you have to do some research too. I've NEVER *knock on wood* felt like I bought something that didn't last according to my expectations. I bought a floor model DVD player for $50 from Best Buy and it's been going great for about a year and a half now. I expected it to last way less but a lot of people recommended Toshiba.

So I received my "new" upgraded HDTV on Saturday. It came in a box that was obviously re-taped up with clear packing tape instead of glued and/or stapled. The delivery guys hurriedly opened it in the street before bringing it into the house- perhaps so that I wouldn't notice? I'm not sure.

The printed materials looked untouched, but the plastic bag with the remote was rolled and stapled with about 12 haphazard staples along one seam. The power cord was also loose, not coiled and tied with a twist tie. My feeling is that I've gotten some display model or something. I really don't know whether to be a dick or just live with it.

I never send food back at a restaurant, for obvious reasons, but I'm still feeling a bit miffed that someone at Best Buy is trying to pull another fast one on me.

Well, it looks like the dicked you in the end. Give you a crappy display TV instead of the new one. Does it work? How does the picture look? Any burn in?

I'm in the middle of trying to get my 40 LCD repaired right now with a CC warranty. Its going OK so far. A tech from one company came last week to diagnose the problem, said he was going to order some parts (3-5 business days to get them) and then schedule an appointment to come back and fix it.

Then today, a guy from a second company called and left me a message. Didn't say what he wanted, so I'll have to call and find out tomorrow.
