Thought you'd get a good laugh out of this...

I went to the flea market by the Grand Casino in Hinkley yesterday. I walked past some seller selling games when suddenly I noticed one game in particular with a really high price on it. Marked at $40 and with a big sticker saying "Banned From Store Shelves" I nearly died in laugher..

The Reason = Profanity.

The Game = GTA3.

So I asked the seller why was GTA3 pulled (acting dumb). The seller told me that "it has been all over the news over the past week that this game had been pulled off of store shelves and that if I wanted it this would be one of the last chances." I couldn't contain myself and started to laugh right in front of him. I then told him that "if this game was pulled off the shelves because of profanity then why wasn't "Wing Commander" pulled?" He just looked at me like as if I suddenly grew three heads.

I then informed him that he was totally wrong, and that it was SAN ANDREAS that was pulled for adult/sex content, not "profanity." Needless to say he thought that I was wrong and that his "banned" GTA3 was worth $40. I walked away laughing, and praying that nobody would be that stupid to buy some "banned" game.

thats what sucks about pawn shops in kentucky. they have no idea on market value for any game is. you might get lucky once but not usually.

I think all pawn shops work that way... of coruse, that works out when they have Suikoden 2 on the shelf for 10 dollars like the rest of thier PS2 games, or Chrono Trigger for the SNES for 5.

:)

heh yea I mean if they over price an item not knowing market value then chances are they can just as easily under price an item that they have never heard of when it is worth way more.... heh Suikoden II for 10 bucks heh sell it on ebay and make 70 dollor profit easily.

yea pawn shops are messed up. there is one here that you go up and ask one person how much for this game they go 12 bucks you ask another person they go either 8 or 16 dont ask me why

True... it's good if one memorizes the price of a game or the price is posted, it's easier to avoid being screwed.

The same place that was the source of the cheap Valkyrie Profile was also the source of an overpriced bare-bones Lunar 2. I wish I didn't let my friend have the $30 Lunar set I found 3 years ago, but it was Christmas. Someone up there hates me sometimes.

Pawn shops are really hit-or-miss. Some just want to make a small, steady profit by selling most of their inventory, others want to attempt to make a bigger profit at the risk of not selling stuff off.

A number of pawn shops around here mark every game at X dollars. Others, though, will individually price every game.

im talking about the same game on the same day. i went up to one person asked how much was i think starwars battlefront and they got 12 bucks. Well i was looking around more and the dude must went on break handed the gaem to a lady and she rung it up 8 bucks

Ah, the crazy people at flea markets... I remember once trying to help this poor lady at a flea market booth, who couldn't convince anybody that her SNES came with all nessecary hookups.

Apparently, since there was a cord for the power supply and RF, but not the component cable spot on the back, everyone decided she was missing a vital cord.

lol thats so mean.

I went to a pawn shop a few weeks ago and they had Madden 2004 for $30, I asked the guy why is it so high priced, he said "Cuz its rare, now get the hell out of my store"

This guy is either clueless, or looking to prey on an unsuspecting gamer who doesn't read the news. Either way, the guy needs a reality check.
