Pharrell Williams recently announced that The Neptunes' alter ego, N.E.R.D. called it quits due to management conflicts at Virgin Records.

Williams recently told BBC Radio 1 that the group, which includes his production partner Chad Hugo and third member Shay, is disbanding.

"N*E*R*D is dead. I don't agree with the management at Virgin Records so we're done. Me and Chad still do what we do in the studio, Shay is still our best friend, you know, perhaps we'll do some music for our fans and leak it to the Internet or something, who knows," Pha-Real told BBC Radio 1. "I've been very quiet about it for the last two years. I'm not here to slander or throw dirt, I'm just not happy so therefore N*E*R*D is expired."

The Neptunes will continue to work as a production team. Virgin Records were unavailable for comment.

:( :( :(

My favorite band ever is done and that sucks.

I never heard of them. Sorry to hear about your favorite band disbanding though. I know how that feels.

Thats how I felt about Drowning Pool and Blink182. :D
I liked Blink. :(

Sucks that they broke up, although I thought they were starting to go downhill (their first album was much better than their second).

Good that they Neptunes will continue to do their thing - they are great at what they do.
Looks like Snoop will have to get back with Dr. Dre to produce his next album.
The Neptunes and N.E.R.D are two different things. If you read what the article says, The Neptunes will infact stay together, which means that Snoop can still get his beats from them.

At least they had good albums first... ...and DP's still around.

Oh yeah, right they had good albums. and about DP I figured they would break up after the no-talent front man died.

No talent? Hahaha, that's the best lie I've ever heard. You feel like a big man trying to rip on a dead man?

Seriously, I'm not going to argue anymore since there's no changing your mind no matter how wrong you may be.

Calm down, don't get you panties in a bunch.

I wasn't really impressed with the N.E.R.D. albums per se, but some of the beats they've done are incredible, as is their Web site. Their contribution to hip hop is unignorable. It's a shame they are disbanding.

For anyone who haven't heard of them, but like rap, check out The Neptunes Presents: Clones. It's got my favorite song from last year ("Rock-n-Roll" by Fam-Lay) on it and some other joints by Busta, Luda, Snoop, etc.....

WTF?!?

Agreed. How hard is it to scream a bunch of numbers....

ONE...nothing's wrong with me
TWO...nothing's wrong with me
THREE...nothing's wrong with me
FOUR...nothing's wrong with me

And then he screams, "LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR" fifty bajillion fucking times.

Those are some genius lyrics right there.
(I did like Blink though)

i like pharrell... decent singer, amazing producer.. seems like a nicer person in the music industry...

if i recall correctly, defender knows him somewhat..

"Get my drink on, and my smoke on
Then go home with, somethin to poke on (whassup bitch?)"
- Dr. Dre the next episode

It was more in response to Greetard, since he apparently expects a lot of songs. Though liking blink seems to dispell that thought.

What the fuck are you talking about? I was explaing to you that NERD and the Neptunes are two different things. NERD is a band that Pharell, Chad, and Shay are in and The Neptunes is a production team made up of Pharell and Chad. Since you have the mind capacity of a child I have to break it down twice for you. I wasn't being hostile in my first post.

Not true actually, me and Stealthy listen to the same exact stuff. No disrespect to you, I just didn't like Drowning Pool.

they only released like three albulms...they were ok..I think they are kinda better off just producing and doing collabos with other artists..thats where they make most of their dirt anyway so its like wasnt a huge loss to them..just a huge loss to the fans which sucks..

As long as Chad and Pharrell are doing their thing its all good. Most people didn't even know that Shay existed. Chad and Pharrell on the other hand have the most amazing talent. Even if you didn't know it you probably have listened to quite a few things they've been a part of.

Pharrel sings like a little bitch...

still, Fly Or Die had one song on it I really liked a lot!

SLOW MOTION LIKE A DREAM! BUT REAL TIME IS WHAT IT SEEM!

I love the way she dance~~~

SPARKS FLY~! SPARKS FLY~!

2 albums, In Search of... and Fly or Die

Just so you all know I never said they were the best band ever. Just my favorite. I loved their style and how they weren't afraid to be different yet still be somewhat mainstream.

And it is a huge loss - for their fans. :(

Yeah, I wouldn't say they were even a good band but they were a very "fun" band, if that makes sense.

That sucks. I always hate it when bands of any kind break up because someone somewhere is probably pissed about it and since music is generally a positive thing it sucks when it happens.... except when Creed broke up. They effing sucked.

 FAITH +1!

Yeah i also liked how creed try to remake themselves kicking out their lead singer and getting another guy that sounds just like him..gawd awful..

"N.E.R.D. Management Denies Breakup

Rob Kleckner reports:
A bunch of bands have been reuniting lately. To that list you can potentially add N.E.R.D.-- although their disbandment has lasted only a couple weeks. Pitchfork reported on March 21 that general managament woes were to blame for the split. At the time, Pharrell said, on BBC Radio 1, "N.E.R.D. is dead. I don't agree with management at Virgin Records so we're done."

While exact details of the dispute were never made clear, what is clear is that their management company is insisting that the differences have been mended. NME reports that the band's management issued a statement from Pharrell stating the following: "N.E.R.D. is still very much a band. We are playing a show together in Japan in two weeks. And we continue to appreciate the support from all our fans."

I guess "No One Ever Really Dies" after all. At least not in the next two weeks."
