for me the most impossible games that I ever played are

These are all Nes games

indiana jones and the temple of doom (made to last level but have no clue of beating it)
gauntlet 2 (part 1 ended so I think this one does too.)
mutant virus (virus keeps growing back)

I tried every method to cheat my way into beating it and it was still mad hard.

note: It took me 7 years on and off to beat both king's night and Athena. The only way that I beat Mad Max was by using save states on an emulator.

I am only talking about those games that end. Can you name any others for any system? maybe we can help each other beat these games once and for all!
None. Codes are for pussies anyway.

Well, except ET.
You mean you never used the contra code?

I never even played Contra. (sans rom)

listen, I dont use codes for games unless they are absolutely impossible to beat or if I am in a rush to beat the game. There are still some games that even with or without codes, are wicked hard to beat.

I know I"m not a gaming master, but I'm no slouch either...

I finally did beat Super Ghost's and Ghouls for the SNES, but
I had to resort to save states on an emulator as well.

I'm sure it's possible, but the game is so "cheap" that you could
be learning the patterns for years and still not be able to
get through it!!! Plus... it's so cheap that once you get to the
end it makes you do it again!!! So you can't finish it unless you do
it TWICE!!!

This is the kind of standup game my friend and I would call the
"money grubber"... the kind that looks so fun to play and pulls you
in, but kills you around every corner!!!

apparently i rushed too fast through Suikoden 4, because the last boss is impossible for me to beat right now. I didnt even equip any runes, never needed them before! Now i have to run all the way back down to the bottom of the tower, then all the way down to the bottom of the mountain so i can go get more items and such. Another game that got me was Galerians for PSX, i got to a point where i didnt have enough of the injection to beat the boss i was at, but i also couldnt get out of the area i was in to get more, i eventually gave up. The firt Maximo too, I got all the way up to the last boss without using cheat codes, i beat the first 2 forms without cheating, but after that i would say it was damn near impossible, i know one guy who "says" he beat it without cheating, but i found it rather difficult. I eventually cheated and beat the last boss.

Medabots Infinity, it has no codes by my god the levels are ridiculous, if you get hit by a rock you die if you fall in the water you die and you have to start the level from the beginning. Probably why I have made such little progress.
According to a friend....TMNT....the first one on NES.
I second that :bomb:

Bayou Billy...
Contra: Shattered Soldier... For me at least.
Goonies 2 for NES

I love golgo 13 it is one of my favorite games. It is hard when it is in the third person pov and all the side tracking that you have to do.

I remember that the sequel, Mafat conspiracy had one of the hardest bosses where you had to snipe a man coming out of an airport.

I have never beat TMNT without game genie. that game is simply way too hard. There are ways to get your turtles back though but those damn swimming levels are the hardest.

some other hard games were 3d-worldrunner, afterburner, the tick, space harrier. so many levels in these games

Never could beat battletoads on the SNES. Rarely made it past that racing level, and if i did, my friend never did so i was alone, with one life or so.

I never could beat the NES one, I'm not even sure I played the SNES one. The speeder levels were crazy, but the fighting ones were too. But I actually enjoyed the game, and just kept coming back to play it. I got pretty far, but never beat it.
I beat TMNT, it was hard though.

Try Battletoads.
I beat TMNT many times over. The hardest part was learning that you had to use a soft jump on the sewer twoards the end of level 3.

But I definately second battletoads. I only made it past those stupid speed bikes *wham* into the wall level like twice. Even with a slow motion controller it was nigh impossible. ackkk.

Bible adventures: David ¡! Goliath ¡! I'll kill you both arghhhhhh.

i never played the snes version, but i had the nes version and got past the racing level every now and than...but after that, my brother and i had a lot of trouble....i really wish that i still had this game so i could whoop its ass

as for franky sox posting fable....im going to assume that you mean its impossible to beat it because it goes on and on? 'cause you couldn't possibly think that it was too hard

I love those battletoad games!! the hardest level for the nes one was when you were in a car and you had to dodge all those obstacles and jump all the time.

The snes has an even hard level in which a rat sets a time bomb on each floor of the building and you have to run downstairs to turn it off one false move and you will get blown up and you will have to start over.

some more hard/impossible games
Rygar
Karnov
commando
gun smoke
amagon
gradius 3
treasure master (only my brother has beaten that. It is just way too hard)

a fun but hard game is wrecking crew for NES. You are mario and you have to blow up the building without getting killed. It involves alot of strategy and time accuracy.

X-men for nintendo didn't have an end. The game that actually made it to the cartidge was an un fin\\\nished beta.

Now in terms of games that were just too hard to beat I'd say Silver Surfer...

ZOE2 had a built in mini game called Zoradius that was easy to beat, but to unlock the bonus picture afterwards you had to beat the high score.

I put in the cheat code to give me more points and all power-ups, but it still took me too long to beat that high score. It was almost impossible with cheats, I can't even imagine someone beating it without them.

The Sega Master system has some impossiable games... they made me go to bed crying

After burner
Rambo
Thunderblade
Double dragon
Gullivous (sp)
Time Wariors (solders?)
Alex Kidd
Action Fighter

It took me as a kid a year to beat shinobi

Hmm, I beat several of the aforementioned games, such as

Beaten:
Ikari Warriors
Gun Smoke
Commando
Goonies 2

But I definitely second Battletoads and Golgo 13 as too hard for me to beat.

I did beat Super Ghouls n Ghosts first time around, and got all the way to the end the second time, but I never could beat the last boss with that crappy bracelet weapon.

Fable. Enough said
Fable was so easy..
Fable is literally one of the easiest games I have ever played. There was a bug I found and exploited and beat the end boss without ever getting hit.

Just use your bow and arrow. Charge up a shot.. then roll around to avoid hits. There's one bow and arrow combination that still charges as you roll, so you can fire off a quick powerful shot and continue to roll. Sad that I found it, but it works.

Transformers (japanese version) for nes- i think it loops infinitely

also, ive never beaten an atari 2600 game- dont remember if they were hard, havent messed with the system since i was about 6

Man, how about this one.

Maximum Carnage, any of you all play it?

Even to this day i get up to the Fantastic Four Lab and run out of lives at the giant monster robot(i beat him once!)

man is that one hard beat em up.

I second GUN SMOKE. It is to this day one of my favorite arcade games, but it is also one of my worst arcade enemies, anytime i see it, i come out 5 dollars lighter. I did beat the nes version though, back in the hay day, my friend and i rocked it using advantage controllers, made those games so much easier!

I second Battletoads. That was rough.
With TMNT, I never could get all that far, and then one day. I was just on some sort of wacky roll and I beat it.

According to a friend....TMNT....the first one on NES.

He is correct. The Tectnodome (sp?) was fucking impossible!

Another NES game I could think of was Wrath of the Black Ninja. I could get to the final boss, but had NO clue on how to beat him. I remember one time I got lucky, smashed a couple of buttons, and saw the final credits.

Two words.....Maximum Carnage. WOW...to this day that has to be one of the hardest games ive ever played

Yeah I loved Smash TV but I don't think I ever got past the 3rd area.

And I forgot Castlevania! I loved both the first and third games, but I don't think I ever beat either one.

Fable. Enough said
ARE YOU JOKING?!?
Maybe he means the PC version?I hope so, since Fable was pretty easy, yet still a truly great game.

Haven has an extremely hard bonus levels where you have to roll in a ball on the thinnest platforms in order to get the diamonds for the true ending. One of the levels took me 3 hours to beat when it is suppose to take 5 minutes.

Maximum Carnage AND Separation Anxiety were both incredibly difficult.
And I'd agree that Contra would be impossible without the up, up, down down code.
There also hasn't been any mention of side-scrolling or top-down shooters. Anyone try and beat Life Force without codes? It's a bitch. And how about Super R-Type?
