I'm looking to build a decent HTPC. I don't need a multi million dollar machine with liquid nitrogen cooling and R2D2 intelligence but I would like it to have a remote and the ability to hook up to my 7.1 surround sound system. I don't care so much about the brand names so long as the mobo isn't a Biostar or some other cheap knockoff.
I don't really care if it's linux or windows either but I do need a decent HTPC software that my wife can understand. I had a hard enough time explaining how to use the universal remote with color coded buttons. I don't want to have to explain how to run command lines or linux kernal compiliations as it would be the death of me
This will be my first HTPC attempt so any advice is welcome at this point as all I've ever built is gaming rigs. Thanks in advance. Peace.
