need advice in buying soundcard (usb or pcmcia)

Ok, i have a dell 9100 lapto thati play quite a few games on and also watch dvds. i hae a nice set of surround sound computer speakers from my older desktop and want to either get a usb soundcard or the pcmcia soundcard from creative. does anyone have a usb soundcard or a pcmcia one? let me know how they are and any buying advice.

THere are much better choices in the USB range. Quite a lot of professional audio is now driven by USB and this has resulted in a lot of good tech trickling down into the consumer sector.

While they're more bulk to consider if you move it around frequently, the USB devices have the PCMCIA stuff beat bya mile on versatility since they can also bw used to bring high-end features to a desktop system.

Unless there is a really great need for something as compact as possible I don't think there are many arguments favoring the PCMCIA devices.
 
I didn't know that there were USB soundcards. I might have to look for one, seeing how on my motherboard most of the PCI slots share an IRQ assignment.
