Need advice on if this seems like my best option for a 360

CAGiversary!
OK, so my Xbox 360 RROD'd on me a couple weeks ago. My warranty is completely out so it would cost 100 dollars to repair it. I've decided to just get one of the new Xbox 360's. My reasoning is that I only have a 20GB hard drive and wanted to upgrade anyway.

I've already pre-ordered Halo Reach from Best Buy but haven't purchased the 360 s yet. I plan on purchasing the 360 s 250GB version from Amazon since I have 71 dollars in credit there and I want to play Reach as soon as I can.

I'm a little leery about all this though, because I'm afraid there'll be some major deals for the 360 console in the next couple of months. I'm also slightly concerned about it breaking on me after the one year warranty. So, should I wait to buy the console or just buy it now? Any comments or opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Update: I ended purchasing the regular 250GB s console and Halo Reach separately. Thanks everyone for the advice anyways.

I'm getting the Halo Reach console. Seems to be the best deal, unless you choose to wait until Black Friday.

If you're worried of it breaking, why not get the amazon.com warranty? I'm pretty sure they have that available.

Yeah, but that would end up costing me another 40 dollars overall plus the loss of a 20 dollar gift card and reward zone points. I really don't need the extra controller it comes with and would rather put it toward the controller that will have the improved d-pad.

I've already decided and purchased reach from Best Buy. Now I just need to buy the slim console from Amazon and I'll be all set. I just hope that there aren't any really good deals in the next month that will make me regret buying a 360 right now.

P.S. Should I pay the 39 dollars to get a 3 year SquareTrade electronics warranty from Amazon?

You could always try the towel trick on your Xbox that RRoD'd unless you actually want to get it fixed eventually.

I'd personally go with the Reach console myself, wanted to get a new S console, but not going to upgrade till my old model RROD's (hopefully not soon)
