I collect anime and keep them sealed ( Ghost in a shell LE, Akira tin, etc.) Now I downloaded the full versions of these from 3rd party download programs. I want to now put these on a disc to view them. I know how dumb this may sound, but how the hell do you burn a dvd? I have the blank media and the burner but have not been able to burn a dvd out of about five attempts (They do not play in my dvd player which supports both dvd-/+r). Any websites that could explain the process? Do you have to convert the file to .vob ? Any good free converter/burner programs for free (I have Roxio easy dvd burner and it's not easy!) ? Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

First of all. I need more info. What kind of file is the movie? ie: *.iso, *.vfo, etc, mpeg, avi, etc...
You are probably are going to have to use nero vision express. You could do a menu and everything you want to it. Make sure you let us know what kind of file you are using.

Try this as well DVD Guides

Btw thanks PacificKarma, I used dvd shrink to convert/encode the file to an Iso Image? Then used a program to burn the dvd. The conversion took about 10 minutes and then the burning took about 30 minutes for about a 10 minute clip. Is it suppose to take this long for such a short clip? I have a 8x burner and am using 8x media.

So you were able to burn the 10 minute clip, rite?

It sounds like to me that you initially burned the movies onto a DVD, but left them in their avi and mpeg formats, as if you were backing them up. So it wouldn't play unless your player was DivX-compatible.

I use Roxio too, and it should tell you how fast it's actually burning. Your 8X burner and media doesn't necessarily mean that they'll burn at that speed, it means that they'll burn up to those speeds. 8X is only ok.

This might sound like a stupid question, but is your DVD burner burning the rite media? Just like your DVD player, it should support dual media. I strongly recommend you use DVD-R for its better compatibility with DVD players. I have two dual-supporting DVD players, but some brands of DVD+R don't work on one of them.

Sites: Doom9, vcdhelp.

Use Nero to burn, it's pretty brainless. Your .avis will have to be converted, and your burning app should do that for you. If it doesn't, you're just going to be burning data discs, nothing most DVDplayers can read. Expect it to take about two hours with a >3GB disc. Burn at a slower speed (4x is sufficient).
